help finding an aphorism?

A friend has asked me to identify a quotation, he thinks it is from a mathematician or physicist, that goes something like this:

“In the end we are all one, but in the meantime we pay our American Express bills separately.”

My googlefu fails me. Can anyone do better? Thanks.

It’s from The God Particle by Leon M. Lederman and Dick Teresi. The quote is “We are all one! (Though, inexplicably American Express bills us separately.)”

Of course he is mocking the introduction of Eastern mysticism into physics.

Thank you!
