Help I'm banned and I can't post at home

I’ve sent a couple of emails to the webmaster in the last few days, but no response.

Thought I’d try here.

At home I get the message your IP address has been banned, to contact us click here. Well I clicked here and then sent an email to the webmaster, but with no response. I have only been with this IP (etcrier.net) for about a month and a half (early September I think). I just joined a week or so ago (from here at work). Do you know why that is? I’m at a loss and am not getting much feedback.

Appreciate some info either here or via email. Thanks.

Philo, have you tried e-mailing TubaDiva or Lynn Bodoni directly? I don’t know how familiar you are with the board - you can find TubaDiva’s e-mail addy by clicking on her name at the very top of this forum; you can find Lynn’s by clicking on her name at the top of the BBQ Pit forum.

If I understand correctly, some IPs were blocked recently because of enormous influxes of trolls/sockpuppets from those particular IPs. Your IP may have been on the list through no fault of your own. I don’t know much about how this stuff works, but Tuba or Lynn should be able to help you sort it out.

Oh, and you may not have gotten an answer yet because there has been so much going on lately, like the problems with board access these last few days. I’ve had problems with my ISP the last couple of days also - I couldn’t get on line at all this morning, which is unusual for me.

And welcome to the SDMB! I hope your problem will be solved soon.

TubaDiva is moving, and right now has very, VERY limited internet access. And yes, we’ve been banning a lot of IP addresses because of trolls lately.

Well, I expected this thread to be a lot different…

Welcome to the Madhouse, PhiloVance.

The same thing happened to me about a month ago, but I managed to get back on. I have no idea how, though.

Well…guess what. I am at home and posting. What I did was dial up another connection and it worked. Definitely not my computer then. Only problem is this connection max speed is 31K, the other is 56K. So it’s either connect slow and get in or connect fast and don’t. Hmmm.

If you dialed a different connection you will have been asigned a different IP address.

So while you can post from at home it does look like your IP address has been blocked.

Yes, I guess I’m going to have to get the different IP addresses assigned to the various dialin numbers (they have 5 for my area). See if I can get them unblocked.

You could always run ipconfig (in a DOS window, type ipconfig) when you dial in to see what IP address you have been assigned.
