Help me choose an MST3K episode to snag a skeptic

Mr B Natural!

It’s on Netflix too: http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Mystery_Science_Theater_3000_Mr._B_s_Lost_Shorts/70015599

That was originally paired with “War of the Colossal Beast.” You just can’t go wrong with a Bert I. Gordon film; any of those you might be able to find are so bad they’re great.

I think it’s unavailable now (dangit!) but I laughed hysterically through “Indestructible Man.” I wish it was available on DVD.

If you want to really hook your friend, I’d go with (if it’s commercially available) War of the Colossal Beast. Besides having one of the best lines ever (“No, I mean Glen passed a truck on the highway!”), it opens with the quintessential MST short–Mr. B. Natural !

Second choice would be Laserblast . It was the last one they did for Comedy Central, and no one was sure of the fate of the show, so they pulled out all the stops and gave us one of the funniest episodes ever!

“You know, for my money, I can never get enought sheet cake!”

“My God, if those pants give way, it’ll be like a piano exploding!”

“Ah, those lovable Southern California ‘crackers’!”

Indestructible Man is in the Vol. 11 box set. I just bought it last night at my local B&N. I’m sure we’ll be watching it tonight.

Squirm! is a great intro movie, and it comes with the Spring short.

“Uh uh! No springs!”

The second Legend of Boggy Creek that they skewered. I hadn’t laughed so hard in a long, long time. Think of the backwoods, a goofy and earnest group of people, and a hairy creature…Well, one hairy human and one Bigfootish creature.

“I claim this land for Arkansas!”

“God bless you, half-man half-pig.”

“I’m gonna download Pong. It’ll take about seven hours.”

I don’t think we should overlook ‘Track of the Moon Beast’. It features Johnny Longbow and the Band that sang ‘California Lady’

Johnny Longbow: "I know what you’re thinking. "
Crow: “I’m boring and my slide show eats.”

This is one of the all time best lines and never fails to crack me up because the mental picture is so very, very graphic…

I want to second “War of the Collossal Beast.” Mr. B. Natural is just too much and the movie is hilarious too. “Squirm” is good too.

HEY! Where’s Candid Gamera?

By the way, for some reason they’re releasing a non-mst3k version of Space Mutiny this week.

The first one that I saw was Cave Dwellers and that sucked me in. Although Mitchell is a good one, too. (“Joe Don Baker is Mittens!”)

Prince of Space is my favorite by a long shot. It would be funny even without the commentary, but the commentary takes it to a whole new level.

I second The Day the Earth Froze. The square dancing scene to Joel (? I think it’s Joel, anyway) and the bots singing “You failed, you failed, you failed!” ad nauseum caused me to fall off the couch.

Mitchell is also a solid choice.

What the hell is the name of the one with the giant grasshoppers?

My friend has a commercial copy of Space Mutiny that he somehow got long before MST got ahold of it. He told me to be grateful for all the stuff that got edited out of the MST version.

The giant grasshoppers are in The Begining of the End.

CandidGamera has the weekend off!

My two favorites for indoctrination are Final Sacrifice and Space Mutiny. Cave Dwellers and Pod People are also excellent choices.

That’s the one I was trying to think of!

“Let’s go surfing now, even Sven is learning how…”

My other favorite is Catalina Caper. Best line:

(Guy puking over side of boat. Guy with transistor radio to his ear bumps into him)

“Hey, you got puke on my radio”

“Yeah, well you got radio in my puke!”

Well, duh! Who can resist the terror of grasshoppers walking up a postcard of Chicago?

“Nice boat. Whaddya do, carve it out of a tree?” “SHUT UP!!”

“What the hell’s a Sampo?”

“Are you with the bride, or the failure?”
