Help me convince my wife I'm not Nuts or full of it

I went to Google Search, clicked on the “Images” option, which lets you search specifically for pictures and typed “Swim Mobile” - with the quotes. There’s only one result - that picture.

The actual link for the website is http://www.ci.detroit.mi.us/photobook/Swim.jpg

If you delete everything after the .us in the link, it will take you to Detroit’s city webpage. At the bottom of that page is the email address for the person that I gave you - more poking around might give you a better lead on someone else.

Thanks and I didn’t know about that google option, so again thanks.

We’re still holding out for the completely nuts and full of it thing though.

This is one of COOLEST things I’ve seen on the board in a long time!

And I’m just dying of curiosity to find out the, well, Straight Dope on this, so definitely keep us posted!

Me too, that and my Mom IMs me ever hour or so, so I have to find out or work will be impossible
Myself I alternate between really cool, and really crazy.

I googled Rose Love Detroit and found this number 313-224-3757 for Rose Love as the contact for Detroit’s Sister Cities program and Relocation program. Perhaps she still can help you find out who to contact about the photo. I can’t wait to hear how this turns out!

The Swim.jpg appears on this page: http://www.ci.detroit.mi.us/photobook/photobook1.htm.

At the bottom, it says:

So, any update?

Not yet I was just talking to my Mom about it again. I hadn’t yet tried the number but my e-mails have gone unaswered. I’m going to try that number tommorrow, but thanks for the bump, I was planning on searching for it today.

This IS the best message board in the world! How exciting for you!

Ok, now I’m skeptical!!!

If you get no response from that number, try the city archives as mentioned above - their staff might be a lot more knowledgeable about specific photographs than you expect, or at least able to pull up that one given the rest of the information on that page. Or possibly so understaffed that you talk to a misplaced intern from some other department. But the city archives are, at least in part, there to serve you.

I’m happy for you Stuffy, really. It’s just that now I’ve got the song, “It’s a small world after all” stuck in my head.

That song has been stuck in my head since I first saw the photo. Oh, and I decided not to wait and left a voice mail message after I my last post. If I had waited I was sure to get caught up in work related crap, which is why I haven’t called before now.

sperfur I forgot to mention that my Mom doesn’t use Photoshop, I had assumed she did because she does the layouts for an Asheville weekly, she used whatever program came with her camera, the photo cleaned up nicely and she’s so convinced that she uses it as her IM pic.

Last update before I go; look at this photo, it’s of my son Stuffy II my school pics and his loook like the same child. You be the judge.

Just teasing you, Stuffy.

There are at least 3 people in the photo that your mom recognizes. She would be the one to know!

I’m just as happy for you as everyone else in the thread. This is more than cool! I love this message board!

This has got to be the coolest thread I’ve stumbled upon at the SDMB. Awesome, Stuffy!!!

How did **Mrs. Stuffy ** take the news?

Did you make a bet with her?

Did you hear anything today?

Zebra It wasn’t a bet, what brought the conversation up in the first place was that we were talking about signing the boys up for swimming, and I mentioned that the Swim Mobile was my first encouter with swimming. She’s pretty amazed by the whole thing, and she’s seen the picture I mentioned earlier that still hasn’t surfaced.

AwSnappityStill nothing. I may start trying the other names listed, I mean you’d think she could at least let me know she received my phone message or e-mail. Maybe she’s on vacation.
