Criminey, call him up and just give him “The Official List of Acceptable SDMB Usernames[sup]TM[/sup]”. (Don’t tell him you made it up; he’ll never know.) Tell him that’s how the rest of us got here.
[sub](I’m partial to avian-themed names or really bad puns, but that’s just me.)[/sub]
Believe it or not I CAN’T call him! I don’t know what his phone number is!
He used to live here, in the same dorm as me… but then he got married, and moved to another dorm where he and his wife could have a bigger room… and I never got the phone number! And never asked, because I see him virtually every day (save weekends)… I suppose I could make a call or two to other people and find out his number, but that would kinda be anti-climatic…
More fun to do it through e-mail, with as few details as possible, so that this thread sneaks up on him…
Okay, I suppose this thread is dead and forgotten by now, but with so many tempting invitations (or were those threats?), I have to do it. I have long cherished the dream of having my very first SDMB post begin with the word “AstroAssButt,” and thanks to Zoggie, I now have an excuse to do it (see subject). Thanks Astroboy, and thanks all the rest of you too. I also considered Astrofriend and Astrolurker as usernames, and even Pa-bo, but, well, I dunno. Oh, and apologies to UncleBeer, who encouraged me to go away.
Yes, I have been lurking for years. Wanted to post, but it’s so intimidating! I’m still not sure I can post a link without screwing it up, and then there’re all those initials and acronyms and smiley things to think about. Plus, some of you long-time posters seem frighteningly intelligent to me, and I don’t want to get in over my head. But if you’ll be nice, I’ll come out and play.
Don’t worry, Mr O. Being in over your head really isn’t as bad as it sounds. I’ve been there for what, about 85 posts now, and I have yet to see the downside.
I think “Mr O” is a faaaabulous disguise.
It induces many warm and fuzzy
(and allbeit a few kinky) thoughts…
Ok, maybe it’s just me - because I figure…
A girl couldn’t ask for a better friend than one called Mr. O
Good foot to start out on, in my freakolicious opinion.
Azura Borealis:
The opinions, especially the freakolicious ones, of anyone with such a provocative username and interests in Anais Nin and Marquis de Sade, are always welcome. Thanks!

Actually, haven’t read it or seen it, though I have heard of it. Not that you asked, but actually I was thinking more of a Thomas Hardy novel–okay, the character’s name didn’t begin with O, but a descriptive term applied to him did. “Jude” would’ve been too closely associated with that Beatles song. (Also, please don’t tell Azura that “O” doesn’t necessarily stand for orgasm. Anyway, meanings are always multi-layered, right?)
Damn! My second post and I’ve already blown whatever mystery I might have created! (Maybe I should’ve chosen “Mr E.” Get it? Mystery?)
I’m glazed with sheer, delerious bliss to see you misusing my name in any post including with the word orgasm. Especially when followed by a term like “Multi-Layered” heh.
I actually suspected the O to represent something more along the lines of ***Omnipotent, Obreption, Oracle of Apollo … ***
*But The Enigma - oops - the “Mr. E” would have been just as nice.*Just not as fun to debate on it’s meaning.
I can settle for the simple idea of it being “orgasm” -if need be. sigh
