Here’s my situation: I work at a desk all day (at home), which faces a window. I would really REALLY love to watch birds while I work. But there’s some problems…
- The window is 6’ off the ground on the outside of the house
- The window has a screen on the outside - so I can’t use a suction cup style feeder
- Those hanging pot holders don’t seem to be tall enough to hang a feeder where I could see it.
- There’s a roof overhang from which I could hang a feeder - but it’s at least 10’ up, so it’d be a chore to refill the food.
- The area below the window is a flower bed, with mulch and plants and stuff.
- The window’s about 5’ off the ground from the inside, and behind my desk. So changing the food from the inside might be a chore too (unless I cleaned off my desk and crawled up on it) and that is only if I permanently remove the screen.
I checked out this type of feeder as mentioned in this thread and it seems like a good solution for me. But I have to check the dimensions of my window and whatnot, remove the screen…and it’s kind of expensive. Plus, it’s on the front of my house so I’m not sure if I want to disrupt the flow of my front facade by installing one of those.
Any suggestions? I am hip to putting something on the overhang if you can suggest how I will be able to remove and refill it. The easier, the better.
