Okay, so for once my surfing at work has been for legitimate, job enhancing purposes.
Since it’s about the time of year when reviews come out, goals are set, etc., I’ve decided to hunt down some seminars or conferences that might be of use to me here at work.
For the record, I am a budget analyst, and I also do a small amount of project accounting. Because that is not my main area of emphasis, I’m hoping to find some sort of project accounting seminar.
Today I have been intimately involved with Google. I’ve found a few CPE sites, but those are mainly directed at CPAs, and have few offerings in the realm of project accounting. I’ve found very few sites that offer courses, seminars, training, even books in what I’m looking for.
And we won’t even go into the link from Google that promised CPE for Accountants that turned out to be a porn site. (with any luck I’ll still be gainfully employed on Monday, and not canned for surfing porn at work  )
I even resorted to San Diego Technical Books (www.booksmatter.com) and Amazon.com in the hopes that if I can’t find a class or seminar to go to, maybe I can find some useful reading material. So far I have had little luck.
So…are there any sites out there that offer a comprehensive listing of work related seminars? Any bean counting Dopers with ideas? It would help if the classes are in Southern California, but hey, I’ll take what I can get, which so far has not been much.
Now, off to beg forgiveness with the IT department for my erroneous XXX rated surfing…
