I have a new Giant TCR Composite 0 in silver and I’m looking to customize it and fill in a big silver space at the front with some classics related artwork that looks kind of like, “nose-art.”
Not exactly, “ya’ mean like dem’ nekkid chicks on there mud-flaps?” but something a bit classier. I started looking through WW-II plane nose art but most of it is overly sexual. Right now the leading candidates include the Nike of Samothrace or else the virgin from Virgin Atlantic’s nose-art.
So, I’m looking for something hopefully a bit more classics realted like the Nike, but also something that looks good. Painting might be good, but sculpture is fine too as long as I can find a large image in high contrast. Maybe something like Hercules and Panthesilea but not in black-figure or any other form of Greek vase painting. And a little more heroic and not so much, “ah, I’m being stabbed!”
Direct links to images are fine or else just works that I could find photos of on the internet.
I have a newspaper shot of Flo Jo in full stride that I intended to have painted on my sailboat. Perhaps you can track it down on the net. I’m not really sure what you’re looking for, but you might google Alphonse Mucha for some luxuriant images of confident women.
Well thank you for your suggestions so far, but I think that this right here is the closest thing so far; the only problem is that it’s a very small statue without too much definition and I’m having a little trouble finding one that would look good flat.
Well, if I end up ordering a bike from Inglis Cycles, I’m going to have them do a custom paint job for me which will be based on this sort of tribal tattoo art theme.
Oh, and i’ve got dibs on this idea so no stealing.
I’m with you on the classics stuff, but I’m a little unclear on what, exactly, ‘nose art’ is. Can you give some examples or maybe link to a picture showing where you would want it? I’ll think in the meanwhile.
