I am trying to remember a show from Nickelodeon’s early days. Those days in which they showed “You Can’t Do That on Television”.
Here is what I can remember:
It was live action (not a cartoon). I know it wasn’t “Tomorrow People”.
A group of kids encounter a bald sorcerer who is trapped in a cave. The wizard asks for the kid’s help in freeing himself from his captive cave. The kids agree to help.
The sorcerer needs the kids to retrieve an item called the “night-us” [sp?] which can be masqueraded as anything. I seem to remember the kids had a method by which they could find this item.
The kids would walk in this small maze to different points in history in order to locate the item.
The antagonist was an evil sorceress who could not destroy the “night-us” but merely push it along time. When the kids found the item, the sorceresses would exclaim, “I deny you the night-us” and the kids would have to start over again.
Would anyone happen to remember the name of this program?
Aaah, I hate when I can’t remember this stuff (and I’ve been watching Nickelodeon for years (I miss Danger Mouse!).
Fear not, I have a call in to the Nick Studios in Orlando, but got the flippin’ voice mail!
We’ll see.
Also featured were Children of the Stones, an English show about a spooky town surrounded by a stone circle, The Haunting of Cassie Palmer, a real creepy show (English, I think) about a possessed girl, and Under the Mountain, a New Zealand import about evil slugs bent on destroying the Earth. Classic. Notable for me in that I always missed the climatic episode of that particular series for one reason or another and I ended up never seeing it before Third Eye got canceled.
Along with Tomorrow People, most of my childhood daydreams and nightmares came out of that show and I still carry some with me to this very day…
