Howdy, come on in. I am in the process of getting drunk. I haven’t done this in a while, so other than just consuming massive quantities of alcoholic beverages, it there anything else I need to know. Like anyway I can prevent a hangover tomorrow…or you can just suggest something for me to drink.
Ok start with a hot day, overexert yourself, skip lunch and dinner, drink 1/2 dozen tequilas chased by equal number of Coronas.
Mix well by dancing furiously for about 45 minutes.
Decide to show off your body piercings cause Hell you’re a thousand mile from home, who’s gonna know. (forgot about brother in law with camera)
Get carried knee-walking back to the ship.
Wake up the next morning with the mother of all hangovers and proof the the time you showed your ass in Mexico.
On second thought, maybe that’s not the way you should do it.
On a serious note, most hangovers are from being dehydrated. Drink at least 1 full glass of water for each alcoholic beverage you consume. Not only will it decrease the chance that you will drink too much too fast, it will keep you well hydrated. Eat well. Surround yourself with good friends, good music, good munchies and have FUN
Well, if you’ve decided you’re gonna do it, I won’t ask you why (answer only if you wish), but getting drunk for getting drunk’s sake doesn’t solve anything (other than the first once or twice, which goes under experimentation)
I don’t drink, Smoothie, but someone I know once said take aspirin the night before to help prevent hangovers.
Starting a little early in the day, aren’t you?
We’ve missed you at the cartoon fight thread.
Eating while you drink is supposed to keep your body from absorbing the alcohol as quickly. (So you can drink longer?) Just be careful not to put yourself in a coma or anything.
Is this any special occasion? Has somebody been mean to you? Do you want me to come over there and bite 'em?
In my experience the best way to prevent a hangover is to consume large quantities of water during and after consuming large quantities of alcohol. And I mean lots of water (about a pint for every alcoholic drink). You still have all the feelings of being tremendously drunk, but no trace of hangover the next day. The drawback with this method is, of course, having to crawl to the bathroom every five minutes.
Oh yeah, and one more thing. The saying they have here (or maybe it’s internationally know but I’ve only heard it here) is “Don’t mix the grape and the grain.” In other words, don’t mix things like wine with things like whisky, as this is supposed to induce great sickness/hangovers.
That said, I tend to switch drinks all night and I’ve never had a problem as long as I’m drinking plenty of water.
As everybody else said, drink water. The way I do it is wait until you go to bed (assuming you don’t pass out) and just before drink water until you cannot possibly drink anymore. Then your fine.
It actually serves two purposes.
It rehydrates you.
If you do wind up puking (once again assuming full consciousness) it won’t taste as bad. I do this when I have the flu.
It helps.
really.
As for drink of choice. Beer is always good. You get drunker slower, so it allows you to get to a certain point of drunkenness and stay there. The stronger stuff gets you smashed faster, but if you’re not used to drinking it, going overboard is way easier.

Actually beer has lotsa vitamin B-6 in it which helps with hangovers. Like others have mentioned: Drink a few glasses of water before bed, works quite well.
Spider woman, nope no one was mean to me. On the contrary they were very good to me and I hurt them. Decided to end this bought of stupidity with something else just as stupid.
Silo, join me anytime.
All others, thanks for your suggestions. I will drink lots of water. It really shouldn’t take much to intoxicate me, because it’s been decades since I drank any quantity of anything alcoholic. Alas, my drink of choice was wine. I couldn’t decide what brand of beer or ale to drink. I will endeavor to pace myself and not get too intoxicated too early.
Meanwhile, may I serve you your favorite cyber intoxicant?
Have some edibles and join me.
As I said, the afternoon and evening is dedicated to stupidity.
Right as you’ve decided that you’ve had enough, but before you go to bed, drink a VERY LARGE glass of ice water (the biggest one you have–it’ll taste fabulous) and use it to swallow an Aleve or two Advil.
Gatorade also works, but most don’t have it sitting around the house.
Between every drink, have a glass of water. This will help with the dehydration thing, which is the biggest cause of a bad hangover. You will have equally dispersed water with the liquor, and not have to remember to do this just before you’re about to pass out.
Ah, the fine art of intoxication. My favorite pastime. Drinking is one of those things that defies simple formulae. Everyone has his or her own preferred method and/or flavor. The only constant, IMHO, is: If getting drunk is the goal (as opposed to a side effect), never EVER EVER stop until either you (a) pass out or (b) puke. Sounds simple, I know, but many people either forget or give up before they get there. Personally I’m well on my way right now.
The things I was going to add about staying hydrated and not driving have been amply covered by others so I’ll skip them. Good luck!
