Help Me ID This Cowboy Movie

I’m trying to track down a cowboy movie for my Dad. I have no idea how old it is, but I’m guessing 50’s or 60’s.

The only details I’ve got to go on are from a scene my Dad remembers where the hero and his wife/girlfriend/whatever are temporarily holed up in an old cabin on a hillside with open windows. The villain’s tracked them into it and has come up the hill waving a white flag wanting to have a chat.

The punch line is the hero telling the villain he has only one question and that’s "How are you getting back down the hill alive?”

That’s about all my Dad remembers. No idea about who’s in it.

Much appreciated guys. Winner gets, uh, a million bonus points, a free pony ride and a date with Elle McPherson.*

The movie in question is “Hombre”, wiht Paul Newman and Richard Boone. Paul Newman is a half-breed apache who is trying to assimilate into normal society, and Richard Boone is the leader of the bad guys who try to rob a stage Paul Newman is riding on. The stage passengers end up holed up in a mine, leading to the scene in question.

Holy crap, you rock. Much appreciated!

1967… I love this movie. Fine acting by Fredric March too, maybe almost too good as a spineless husband. Diane Cilento was mesmerizing as Jessie, a good lookin’, straight talking woman that tested John Russell’s (Newman) stark reasoning with her more humane, Christian-like wishes.

From the early bar scene where John Russell serves a little whoop ass, this one hold’s you tight. Great show.

Update: I got the movie for my Dad and we watched it on Christmas day. It was not only the film he was thinking of, it was also a fine, fine movie to boot. Probably going to have to acquire a copy for my own collection some time…
