Help me identify this horror movie

even if a person didn’t do that, it has been done in effect.

people going from decades old memory have mutilated, combined and constructed new memories of some tv, movie or song.

with the diverse membership here it often gets sorted out from single cultural tidbits. the world’s best trivia machine.

i think the potato in the auto is still a mystery.

Miller, I’m going to reconsider the movie you picked. Going to go rent it today or tomorrow. I watched a trailer of it again. It certainly has a lot of what I was thinking I seen. The dog also seems vaguely familiar that chases them some. Starting at the 44 second mark, it has the bars (catwalk grate) on the window in that room that they were in, and it also has her saying that line, honestly don’t remember the black kid, but at that particular time in that room is when I believe the kooky, long, stringy hair kid pops out of a little door opening, and gets them all to safety. If not then, he’ll come up at another time and do so. Maybe the reason he isn’t in the trailer is that he had a minor role to play in the film, but might have been when I started watching that particular segment years ago. Even if it turns out that isn’t it, still looks like it would be fun to watch.

AA, just don’t have much else. Earlier I said I thought it might be from the seventies or eighties, and I definitely did not watch it on any cable or dish channel, since I don’t any of that, just OTA (over the air) on what I think was the CW channel. The kid was definitely filthy looking, don’t remember any weapons they had, others in the house that were after them probably had something. Let me get the movie Miller suggested from the get-go, this might just be it after all. Most horror flicks are low budgeted, this one they probably spent a bit more, it looks like they did a great job with it, and good actors too.

Is this the kid you’re thinking of? If so, then it’s People.

Damn, you’re freaking good! Hell yeah, that’s the kook I’ve been looking for! That’s got to be him, and how in hell you got that when I kept saying he had the long stringy black hair, only you know. What are you a freakin’ magician? Does it get cut? Anyway, I bought that other movie, but will be going back to get this one next.

I know you guys can only be as good as the info you get, and considering what so little you had to go on, and obviously parts of what I thought I remembered was wrong, I sent a lot of you astray. My apologies.

Miller, I am a bit puzzled how you were able to come up with the guy and movie when so much was wrong, but certainly very appreciated indeed. I can’t thank you enough.

When I do People horror movie searches, it sends me everywhere. Is there a particularly release for it? Know this actors name?

I saw that movie once, more than twenty years ago, and literally the only thing i remembered about it was “house full of death traps” and “kid with a freaky grin.”

Kind of amazed that I was right, myself.

When Miller said People, I believe he was referring to the movie, The People Under the Stairs.

The actor’s name is Sean Whalen, who I remember from the Aaron Burr commercial.

Okay, I see, he just abbreviated it that time, but thanks for the clarification, I needed that, and great, that is the one I got. Really looking forward to seeing that again this evening.

Watched the movie, sure was great to see Roach (Sean Whalen) again, and Sefton enjoyed the commercial he was in to that you provided. He’s actually a reasonably nice looking young man when he’s cleaned up.

He did have a small role in that movie, I’d never would have found it without help. His face is almost identical as I remembered it, just didn’t know how to describe it, so I concentrated on the hair, which I thoroughly bombed on, and also thought his forehead was a bit more high as well. But he definitely has a face that was sort of funny looking, a sort of a Steve Buscemi face, that’s hard to forget. Wonder if they are related?

Don’t ever use me as a witness in a trial in having to describe somebody. Unless you have Miller as a juror, he’ll figure it all out even if what few details you give him are completely wrong.

Movie had a fairly good script to it too, and the house was rigged up neat with all of the trap doors and such. The dogs helped make the movie. I guess it doesn’t rank high up on horror (and some comedy) movie buffs list though, but it was still worth watching to me.

I feel compelled to watch it now; understand, that I’m going to hold you personably responsible if I think it sucks.

Fair?

No, but that’s the way it is.

I love people under the stairs, but I hardly consider it a horror. It’s really more of a black comedy. Anyone else agree?

It’s both.

And let it be recognized that the very first response to this thread, only one hour and 11 minutes after the OP, had the correct answer … despite the very limited amount of information offered.

One more reason I love this board.
