I play in a Jazz trio. Our trumpet player brought a song to rehearsal about a year ago, saying it was “Schoolhouse Rock or something”. This song is apparently NOT Schoolhouse Rock. In fact I cant find its origin anywhere. Here are the lyrics he sings:
My golly, a lollypop is following me
And I really don’t know what to do
My golly, a lollypop is following me
And I really don’t know what to do
You might think it’s silly
To run willy-nilly
When a lollipop follows you
When a big yellow lollipop - GOLLY - follows you
Is this song on the internet somewhere? Or anywhere, for that matter? I sure would like to hear it, but I cant seem to find anything on Google other than the non-working Yesterdayland link.
Great – now I’ve got that song stuck in my head. There are some songs here, although not that one (but the site apparently changes the MP3s on offer every week). You might also try the Electric Company tribute site for other favorites (but alas, no lollipop song there either).
Speaking of The Electric Company, for years people thought I was mad when I tried to explain “For Love of Chair” to them (“What about Naomi?!?”), and accused me of making the whole thing up. My sanity may still be in question, but not about that.
Not unless that first site I mentioned puts it up as one of their weekly MP3s. Or you could write to either of the sites to ask them if they have it. You never know.
