That’s some badass paper mache. Wow. Totally puts you in the running for Coolest. Teacher. EVOR.
He kind of looks like a “Guppy” to me. (though Snarglechops and Ghoti are pretty awesome too)

Phinn?
N. Cisor?
Freaking Nightmare?
Ishmael?
Cuddles
What a spectacular specimen!
That’s a rucciface if I’ve ever seen one.
Either that, or Puddin’.
Pythagoras
That’s a cute angler.
[sorry]
Is that a… LAVA LAMP in the background?!?
I think Snarglechops the Sea Kitten has a certain ring to it.
Or you could name him Monty - he makes a great conversation piece.

Shodan
Nermal
If not Phil how about Vigoda?
Snarglechops, The Friendly Sea Kitten.
It’s a no-brainer…Nat Pagle.
Stick.
I saw the name suggested, and I knew.
I turned to look at the beast, who is currently hovering about 2 feet behind my head in my home office, and I knew.
My fellow dopers, I give you Vigoda, the friendly SeaKitten. A salty, crusty old guy with a heart of gold who will fuck your shit up if you mess with him or his friends, got it buster?
Thank you, Lute Skywatcher!
Snarglechops was a great suggestion, but it didn’t quite capture the feel of the guy in person. I’ve got to give a shout out for Pythagoras from mnemosyne. That almost was the one despite the pun.
Thank you all for the suggestions, everyone! If I decide to go ahead and make a 3 foot tall bunny rabbit covered in reptilian scales as my next project, I’ll run it by you for more naming ideas.
Wow. That’s quite the fish you’ve fashioned there, leafrog.
In fact, it’s downright Lovecraftean.
Therefore, I think you should name it after The Man Himself…
Call it Howie.
Albert the Fish. Should keep small children from destroying him.
Rabbit? That’s easy: Harvey.
WoW Geek!
Actually, I was going to suggest Shane, for Shane McGowan of the Pogues.
Vigoda is AWESOME!!
Do you have photos of any more of your beasties?
Thanks, Green Bean! I have to admit, Vigoda is only my second beast, but he won’t be the last!
The first beast I made was a dragon, which is OK. I made it from following the directions from a book I bought off of this guy’s website (who, coincidentally, is also a teacher and currently teaches some of my former students. I found that out after the fact). I really like the fish he made, you can see the video on his front page.
I’m happy with my dragon, especially the scales, but definitely learned a lot while making it and would change some things (the face and eyes are too hard to see) if I could.
Heh, I haven’t named him yet, either. Maybe he should be Snarglechops!
