Music Halfpipe
**Satan Trapped Under a Lawnmover **totally works. And it came from a post that was part of conversation we were having so it is even cooler for that!
I like **SEJ’s **sugg(your TM) of Dissonance Shift
The Aggro Music Detective works for me, too…
Forgive me if I drifted off, but who is Blue Elk?
Best of luck and either please post a link in this thread or a new one if allowed, or send folks like me an email with the link otherwise…
Snowboarder Bo - I’m not sure if the TM above means trademark, but just in case it does, the name Dissonance Shift(your TM) is my gift to you. I hope you like it. Great work on the impossible song ID, by the way. Let us know about the blog when you get started.
Nah - I was just being cute. He was using the shorthand “sugg” in his posts, with TM after using the shorthand - so I was just trying to play on that…
If it’s a trademark you’re after, I’m pretty sure Suggs is taken.
I don’t wanna bother with a poll, since I’m pretty sure that only like 5 or 9 or 11 people would bother answering it and reading it, but I’ve narrowed it down to 2 names now, and even tho I’m already partial to one of them, I thought I’d like some feedback.
Which of these two titles do you like most?
Black Diamond Rampage
or
Poor Impulse Control
Poor Impulse Control!
Shut Up and Rock
Poor Impulse Control!
+1
BDR sounds like it would be about skiing/snowboarding - I get that that is a passion of yours via your username, but unless you plan to comingle that topic with music, it feels confusing…
I am totally not your target audience, but love “Poor Impulse Control.” The other, as WordMan says, sounds more like a snowboarding blog than a music blog.
Well, I really like PIC as well, but there’s some potential problems.
For one, there’s already a blog called that:
http://poorimpulsecontrol.net/blog/
No idea what the blog is about, as it’s very poorly designed and difficult to read, but it doesn’t seem to be about music (even tho the second article uses a line from Golden Earring’s Radar Love as it’s title). Best I can figure is it’s somebody’s online diary.
I also found this thing which may or may not be some kind of blog.
I seem to recall Uncle Cecil saying that titles can’t be copyrighted. Can they be trademarked? Can I use the title if someone else is already using it?
Also, BDR has snowboarding overtones, yes, until you know about this incident:
So BDR has it all, too: a behemoth runs amok, thrashes established authority, proves to be damned hard to kill, and then has a song written about him. I mean, it’s like exactly my life’s story if I were a snowboarding elephant who lived in Texas! :dubious:

Well, I’ve tried to register PIC on a couple of different blog sites, but guess what? They all appear to be operated by Google. How do I know this? Because after having started an account at blogspot. com, when I tried to start a new account at blogger.com and blog.com and a couple others, they all said “invalid password for that email address” or something similar. When I used my blogspot account password, I got in. And since there are already a couple of Poor Impulse Control blogs there, I can’t use that name, at least not easily.
If I get my own domain name, would I need some kind of software to do easy blog formatting? Or would I then have to resort to doing the pages myself, essentially from scratch or with a simple template design? It’s been a long time since I did extensive HTML coding, and frankly I don’t really want to have to do it again.
My SO swears by WordPress for blog formatting. Tuna Face Melt is an awesome name.
I signed up at Wordpress.com, only to be told that the domain poorimpulsecontrol.wordpress.com is already in use. Do they have software that they sell to do it for you, or do you just have to use their site?
Have you tried posterous dot com? Once you’re set up, you can post via email … easy peasy.
