The instructions at posterous.com are nearly non-existant. I suppose that’s supposed to make them seem easy to use, but it also doesn’t answer any questions at all. And it looks like your blog would just be yourname.posterous.com which isn’t at all what I want.

If you buy your own domain name and hosting, you can install the Wordpress platform there and use it for your blog (download it from Wordpress.org) - it’s far more flexible when you do it this way, anyway. There are plenty of free WP themes, cheap WP themes, or you can create your own.
edit: Oh nevermind, I apparently hadn’t read the 2nd page yet. If you ever change your mind, I believe you can export/import your posts from blog.com to Wordpress.
