Help Me Out Here (Film Trivia Photo Quiz)

A co-worker sent me an Excel spreadsheet that has been set up by someone as a movie trivia game. It consists of sixty stills from various movies - and to make things more challenging, they have been photoshopped to remove the actors, leaving behind the clothes, as if worn by invisible people.

I was able to ID 47 of the 60. Collaboration amongst the office brought it to 57 of 60.

But we still have three to go - and I’m hoping here to describe the stills for the SDMB at large, and see if anyone can guess the movies. No bets or prizes at stake, just personal satisfaction.

I don’t have high hopes.

#1 - Grey stone/marble type building - the lighting and edifice suggest to me a typical New York ‘Library’ or perhaps an upscale apartment building. We’re watching a conversation between two characters - facing us is the taller of the two, an adult or older teen, male… wearing a grey jackey over a black shirt with a red design. More distinctive is the kid he’s talking to, who seems to have a backpack on, as well as a sweater, and one of those toboggan hats with the longish ears and a scraggly “poof” of yarn on top.

Other two coming momentarily.

#2 - We’re in a garage ( or similar), and at the right of the screen appears to be a silver or grey car. There’s a lot of light coming in through the garage door, glinting off of the car. Several men in suits have just entered the garage, through the front door, and are in the background on the left side of the frame. Apparently kneeling or sitting next to the car is a man, in a grey shirt, wearing a hat.

#3 - the most distinctive - the only character in the short is a girl - she’s wearing a sweater (grey) and an orange skirt over black tights/leggings; most importantly, she has a big yellow helmet. It might be a hardhat, but it looks like a fireman’s helment, and seems to have a visor that can be pulled down over the face. She’s laying on the floor as if she’s just been knock over, looking up at the camera, which may be a POV shot. The floor is a short grey carpet or possibly concrete - an extension cord, orange, snakes across the floor. There’s an object in the corner of the frame that may be a dropped camera.

I can answer any specific questions about the shots, and I don’t expect too much, but let’s see what you folks can do.

This sounds like a scene from About a Boy in which Will (Hugh Grant) is talking to Marcus (Nicholas Hough?) outside Will’s apartment, which is done in a very industrial style.

It would really help us out if you could post the pics!

I know - two problems. I’m not sure how to desconstruct them from the spreadsheet, which is locked down tight, short of screenshotting them - and even if I did, I have nowhere to post them that I can access from work. Once I get home this evening, that changes.

But you did good! About a Boy is correct! Hooray!

Eh, it was easy – one of my favorite movies. (And I just checked myself: it’s Nicholas Hoult.) The hat was the giveaway. If you think the kid’s hat is a riot, you should see the one his mother wears!

The chick in the hat is Bridget Jones’ Diary. But you have to leave out the apostrophe or the spreadsheet will tell you it’s wrong. The other is one I’ve still got blank, too.

I see my Wonder Twin has been spending her day just as productively as I’ve spent mine. You have all the others, or are there spaces I could help you fill?

::innocent smilie::

Ah! The third one has come forth. All is well. Thanks, Drae and Scarlett.

Well, what is it??

Now I want to see the rest of them too.

I’d be happy to email the spreadsheet to you, if you like, and have access to Excel.

To avoid ruining the last one for Drae, if she wishes to remain unspoiled :

The Usual Suspects

I tried that! I must have spelled it wrong. Stupid spreadsheet. sigh I’ve actually had it sitting here for weeks, and just never bothered hunting down the answers I didn’t have. I think I’m still short a few, but I need to get them on my own.

Perhaps you can link to the source? It certainly sounds like you’re describing some Invisibles from the good folks over at FilmWise.

That’s exactly what it is, but it’s a quiz compiled from Og-only-knows how many previous Invisibles.

It was emailed to me as a spreadsheet, with 60 entries.

Thanks for the offer, but I’m happy enough going through the linked Web site.
