Help me out, please....who IS funny?

Bob and Ray.

Larry David is funny.

Also, Jimini Glick would be on top of the list: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrWAMZWN6uU

For stand-up, I currently enjoy:

Paul F. Tompkins (if he comes to a town near you, GO!)
Mike Birbiglia
Louis C.K.
Patton Oswalt
Doug Benson
Tig Notaro
Brian Posehn
Aziz Ansari
Maria Bamford
Seth Morris (aka Bob Ducca)
Demetri Martin

And I’ll go ahead and add:

Dan Telfer (local Chicago guy, has a killer bit about “the best dinosaur.”

I have to admit, I find several choices here extremely unfunny. I can’t stand Bob and Ray or Larry David or Glick. I would cut off my head rather than watch Andy Kaufman. I was extremely happy when he was voted off SNL.

Peter Cook and Dudley Moore

Yes! And the troup Beyond The Fringe which gave us Dudley Moore documentary 4/6

I recently borrowed an ancient Bob Newhart collection from the library, and I couldn’t believe how funny he was. To just describe that he’s pretending to have these phone conversations…you just can’t do them justice.

Robert Klein, anyone? This has one of my favorite short bits of all time – on starting your car on a cold winter morning. (If you’re old enough to remember how bad cars used to be in this respect, you’re gonna love this… at 3:37 into it.)

I thought everyone knew that the only comedians that are cool to claim you like are George Carlin, Jonathan Winters, Andy Kaufman, Richard Pryor, and Lenny Bruce.

You forgot Bill Hicks (who I can’t stand.)

Louis CK is rapidly working his way into that list, though. Quite a few people have mentioned him in this thread.

Aren’t they all “Tom” on the phone?

I’d love to see Newhart and Ellen Degeneres together sometime as father daughter. Do you remmember her “Hello, God? This is Ellen” schtick.

Apparently we have very similar taste. I have tickets to see Louis CK Oct 2, and I can’t wait. It’s kinda cool that he’s becoming so popular - for a long time people only seemed to know his stuff because Dane Cook had ripped him off so much.

Frankie Boyle, Rhod Gilbert and Peter Kay.

The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction

Bob Seger - Her Strut

AC/DC - Touch Too Much

Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze

Nivana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
