Help me plan a Chrismahanukkwanzaakah feast

I thought it would be fun this year to have a big celebratory meal that reflects several different winter holiday traditions. No, I’m not inviting Bill O’Reilly.

Here are some ideas I have so far.

For appetizers, I’m thinking of sneaking in a little pagan reference with Green Goddess dip and crudites, and celebrating our anticipation of increasingly sunny, warm days with salsa fresca and tortilla chips.

Main meal:

Roast goose, with prune and apple stuffing (Christmas)
(Maybe roast a chicken alongside it, in case goose isn’t to everyone’s taste.)
Potato latkes with sour cream and applesauce (Hanukkah)
Sweet potato biscuits (Kwanzaa)
Greens (Kwanzaa)

Dessert:

Chocolate cake (Christmas)
Fruitcake (Christmas)

I know my desserts are not multicultural, but I’m kind of famous for both recipes, and they are soooooo good. Any relatively simple dessert suggestions from other traditions are welcome.

We’ll also have champagne, and maybe eggnog and/or wassail. My folks will be bringing wine, since they know about that stuff.

So give me your comments and suggestions, please!

I would try one of these:

Cheese Blintzes
Halvah
Mandel Brot

The Mandel Brot is probably too much, but the Halvah and Blintzs shouldn’t be that much work.

Have fun, sounds like a great idea for a very American Holiday.

Oooh, mandel brot sound good. See, the nice thing about them is I can make them this weekend, taking the pressure off on Xmas eve and Xmas. Thanks for the recommendation!
