Help me. [questions re: bipolar disorder]

Ime, people who have the “buck up and get over it” attitude have never delt with mental illness themselves so I find it best to ignore them

Get yourself a motorcycle. A Dual-Sport. I suggest a Suzuki DR of whatever vintage you can afford.

The early 350’s are outstanding and the later 400’s are very good as well.

Thanks to everyone for their help especially April and Anamen and thank you gigi for sticking up for me =) there are still good people in the world.

I don’t want to make you mad because you might kill me. What drugs worked to bring about your recovery? Do you do therapy outside of the medications? If so, have you found that it is helpful?

Not cool:smack:

I apologize for the “you might kill me” line. Lame. Sorry.

Thanks for checking back in, theo12. Please don’t give up on yourself or put off being honest with your doctor about these feelings you’ve been having.
Asking for the help you need is brave, not something to be ashamed of.

I found Uncommon Knowledge very helpful. For some of it see:

It also has a depression program with hypnotic audio files. I bought it and got a “no questions asked” refund (to save money).
I’ve found that mood-stabilizers are required to avoid manic episodes.

Mood-stabilizers should help for either end of your moods… you may need fairly strong ones.

If you were trying to be funny, it doesn’t really work. Let’s avoid saying things like this on here, it doesn’t help anything and comes off mean.

Don’t tell me what to say or not say, please.

I apologized, fwiw, btw. Please let it go, if that is possible, and I will do my best not to say anything wrong again.

Banned. Figures. First Amendment is only for faeries, here.

I’m a moderator, so if you’re out of line, I will tell you what you can and can’t say on this site. In this case, you were a bit out of line. Whether or not you apologized later, you still get a note.

Now you can question this note or argue against having received it, but please do it in the “About This Message Board” forum if you want to do that, rather than us hijacking this topic further.

And welcome to the SDMB.

And I am not against faeiries, AT ALL.

It’s kind of his job…

OP, I’m glad you’re feeling better. Keep working with your doctor.

At the risk of quoting myself, the question still stands.

Thank you, but you started it. I will file my complaint where appropriate and continue to help the OP as I see fit.

What you want to do is find someone to trust. That is half the battle. The meds come a bit later. Meds have a place, but you need to have a trusted conselor or someone like a friend or husband/spouse before going on meds. This is just my opinion but it is correct from my experience and I hope it helps. You will get better, there is no doubt about that.
