When I was a kid, my brother and I would watch this cartoon that I loved, but I can’t remember the name of the series. We were watching it in the late 70s - early 80s, though I’m sure they were reruns at that time. I think they may have originally come out in the 60s. The characters were very funny super heroes. They had names like Baby Man, Muscle Man, Rope Man, and Cuckoo Man.
Just when you think that “Defenders of the Universe” and “Basketball Jones” were the last two forgotten memories you could possibly dredge out of your childhood, along comes a thread like this.
The stupid cuckoo man. He just kept flying along going “cuckoo. cuckoo”.
I seem to remember an episode where a big drill was underwater and they folded it back around on itself so that it just ate itself down to zero.
I wish I could categorize some of these. My cartoon watching was divied among 3 major formats. . .
Saturday Mornings: Looney Tunes, but also Grape Ape, Laff-Olympics, Pac Man, Dungeons & Dragons, Real Ghostbusters, Underdog (w/ Tennessee Tuxedo et al) etc.
After school big ones: Defenders of the Universe, Thundercats, Transor-Z, Transformers, Tom & Jerry, Woody Woodpecker (WoodyWood used to have Chilly Willy and other things).
Then, there was show that we used to get in the afternoons that was like 30 minutes long and used to have 3 cartoons. I think I used to watch this in the summers. These were second-rate things like Arabian Knights, Baby Huey, Dangermouse.
The Mighty Heroes may have been in the third. Humanoids might have been in the third.
There’s some stuff I’m blanking on like Mighty Mouse and Casper the Friendly Ghost.
