Help me remember these 'travelog' type books from my childhood

These were the hardback book equivalent of National Geographic magazine. They had pictures from all over the world, but also a lot of writing. I remember them being very dark in color, but maybe some reddish (and maybe bluish) coloring around the title or on the spine. I remember reading them in the 1960s, but I suspect they were actually published in the 1930s. I just remember there was a series of them on various parts of the world.

Well, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all who contributed to this endeavor to identify this series of books:

Thanks to Earl Snake-Hips Tucker! You Da Man!

I actually found two surviving volumes from a recent search of the atticl in my childhood home. I was wrong about the dates, though. They weren’t published in the 1930s, but the 1950s, if you’re interested. . . the series name was “Lands and Peoples” published by Grolier

I remember those books. I had a few and looked at them all of the time. I had a “spinster” aunt who would give them to me. I just don’t remember what they were called. I picture them being dark red also.
