Amber Gris

Alien Grey?

Aaaw…I was going to suggest this one, too.

OK, if not Jane, then Jean!

How about “Erin Gray”?

Earl Milli Vanilli tea.

I don’t know. I’ve had Jean Grey tea and Madelyne Pryor tea and Phoenix Force tea. They tell me they’re all different but they taste identical to me.

Picking up on this, the Italian translation of Earl Grey has a nice ring to it:

Conte Grigio

However, there’s no good Italian tie-in, so I don’t know why’d you’d want to name it that.

Hm, though lavender is specific to the south of France, anything provincial you can think of?

Actually, the lavender I use in this blend is a Tibetan wild lavender.

After extended pondering of the excellent selection of names suggested here and by my friends on Facebook, Twitter, and Wordpress, I am pleased to announce that our Lady Grey tea is now known as “Lady Greystoke,” as suggested by Czarcasm in post 29.

John Clayton, Earl Greystoke (a.k.a. Tarzan) married Jane Porter in Return of Tarzan, by Edgar Rice Burroughs, thus becoming Lady Greystoke. Since the tea bar is part of our bookstore, we appreciated the literary allusions of the name, and the subtle connections back to the “other” lady Grey: Lady Jane Grey, the Nine-Day Queen.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! If we end up using any of them for other Earl Grey blends, I will let you all know. Czarcasm, if you’d like a sample of the tea you named, shoot me a PM and I’ll mail you some.

Nice choice!

Now, what I really want to know is… do you have any coconut chai?
