I went into the following link http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=24658 and I clicked on the highlighted text in Fannie Mae’s post and I was logged in as S-prix. I posted to the “Threadkillers” thread in MPSIMS and I was listed as him. I did not mean to assume another identity and I think something should be done about that.

I’m not sure about the double posting being a problem at all. And it’s so easy to do if you think you are hitting preview but hit send. You still need to correct your errors.
It’s easy enough to see on one thread.
The problem comes when you post a new thread, like the one yesterday on hotdogs that went in three times.
But that got three sets of answers, so it was still okay.
The problem comes when the board is slow and people hit the button twice since they aren’t sure if it’s moving at all.
On my browser, there’s no “hourglass” in the window itself, only when you pass over the border or scroll bars, so it’s very confusing the first time or two.
I’m having a problem where the posing window takes so long to return I give up and want to try again.
Why can’t the software just do that “flood control” thing I get on test posts? Wouldn’t that work on regular posts, too
to prevent doublingup.

In the thread that the OP linked, a Fanny May posted a link to another thread and that link contained a username and password. (S-Pricks, esprix). I don’t think this is a bug. When the OP clicked on the link, it passed through the username and password and when he posted he posted as S-Pricks.
I could be wrong, but it seems to me that Fanny May has an additional ID.
