What does “fully assimilate” mean? Let me guess…step 1: abandon one’s religion if it happens to be that religion; step 2: stop looking like those people.

Step 1. “I, Donald J. Trump, am calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”

Step 2. Per Rudy Giuliani in the link above, Trump put together a team to tell him how he could institute a Muslim ban legally. They basically came up with this EO.

Yep, they view the “war on white/western/christian culture” to be that they will have to share, most would not be happy unless Republican, Christian immigrants were coming in.

They are willing to throw away freedoms to protect power, and as Monty pointed out they only want to let that power go to them.

Speaking of that, it’s nothing new. Shortly after the end of World War II, European spouses of American service members were greeted with “We are the same people…thank you for your willingness to contribute to the United States…we welcome you.” Japanese spouses of service members, on the other hand, were simply prohibited from immigrating and also prohibited from receiving command sponsorship in Japan. Even to this date, spouses of service members still have to be vetted in a rather insulting and invasive set of processes before even getting married. For well over two years, the military area commander responsible for running that program in parts of Asia without a US major command present did not have the program in place–meaning those service members and thir intended spouses could not get married without getting the service member in serious trouble and denying a chance at command sponsorship to the spouse.In 2003 (maybe it was 2004), while I was at university, I did a term project on that issue. I was extremely saddened by the result of the survey that was part of the project, a random survey of students on campus.

It’s bigotry, pure and simple. I’m done pretending with even family members who support Trump that they voted for him out of bigotry. Trump campaigned on the fear of bigots. You know why? That son of a bitch is a bigot, too. Don’t believe me? Ask Blacks who tried to rent from the cur.

Obama did not stop immigration or the issuing of visas. The process was tightened and as a result visas took longer.

First, Obama’s suspension was in direct response to a failed plot by Iraqi nationals living in Bowling Green, Ky., to send money, explosives and weapons to al-Qaida. The two men were arrested by the FBI in May 2011 for actions committed in Iraq and trying to assist overseas terrorist groups.

Both had entered the United States as refugees after lying about their past terrorism ties on paperwork. One man worked as a bombmaker in Iraq, and the FBI even matched his fingerprints to an unexploded IED discovered in 2005 in Iraq, raising questions about the thoroughness of the vetting process.

It should also be noted that Iraqi refugees were still admitted to the United States every month in 2011, though there was a significant drop after May of that year.
