Help me use IE, please.

I have to use IE to get to a work related server. I was having trouble last week, and played the fool and tried to be an IT expert.
I am no IT expert. I was wise enough to stay away from the registry, so I think I haven’t ruined anything, but, when I launch IE8, it doesn’t go online. In my start menu, it used to display as “Internet Explorer (No Add Ons).” I uninstalled that, and downloaded and installed IE8.
Now, as before, when I try to start it, the toolbar at the top of the IE page says [Working Offline], and a ‘Broadband Connection’ window comes up, and asks if I want to connect, or to stay offline. When I click on Connect, it doesn’t connect.
There we have it. My Google Chrome works fine, but, I need IE, as I said, to get onto a work server. Can anybody here help me?

Thanks,
hh

Work Offline is usually an option in the File menu. The menu bar in IE8 is off by default, so you may have to press ALT on your keyboard to see it. Click on File, and then click on the Work Offline option if it is checked.

ETA: A quick googling gave me an official Microsoft forum question. IT agrees with me, but also shows another option if my solution doesn’t work.

Got 'er done, thanks to you, BigT!

Thank you very much!
