Help Name My New Dog!

BARON!

Or Beowulf.

Or Barkley.

But seriously, I looked at that handsome, noble dog, and the Dog Name Whisperer said “Baron”.

Can you please give him a scritch behind his ears? It’s from Clover and I.

Barolo
Buckley
Berkley
Beaufort (that’s pronounced like hugh-firt)
Bramlett
Bacon

Gaston.

I’m serious, the dog’s name is Gaston.

[I think he took his name from Gaston LeReiux.]

Dylan

obviously he’s either Bertie Squirtbum or Dave. Not sure which.

Hm… I’ve heard you should name your dog with a one-syllable name for less confusion to the dog! I’ll do some research on that.
Look at the legs on that dog! I hope you can keep him running often.
I’ll suggest “VIC” for a name. That dog’s going to be victorious!
Vetbridge?

I had read you should name your dog a 2-syllable name ending in a vowel sound, preferably “a” or long “e.” (Although most of mine don’t conform to that.)

I think we’ve all been reading different dog books.

I’m still hoping that someone, somewhere, will name their pet ‘Claxton’.
He’s a beauty, that’s for sure!

Thomas.

He’s a Thomas.

What a handsome boy!

There was a Doper a while back who advocated picking a name you like and then assigning a rank. I quite liked that. So, you’d have Brigadier General Baudelaire, or Private First Class Chaucer.

If you’re not into the military thing, you can go with the name I intend to use for my next pup (and I swear, it’s a name no one has ever really used for a living dog): Fido.

Field Marshall Fido?

Given that you live in Manassas, I’d go with “Bull Run” or “Beauregarde” (“Beau” for short).

I like “Riley” for him.

He also looks a bit Irish: maybe “Finnegan” or “Callum” would work.

But his middle name just hasta be “Barkley.”

Wow, he is a handsome boy! Congrats and good on you for the rescue. So many good names to choose from too; my favorite is Beau - that’s what I was gonna post, but it looks like The Scrivener beat me to it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Deogy.

~Sigh~

Thanks for all the great name suggestions! Unfortunately, he’s not our dog anymore. His prey drive was way to strong and he kept trying to kill one of our cats. We talked to the rescue organization and they said to bring him back, because he would never be able to be trusted around cats. That’s the greyhound in him, I guess. We could train him to ignore the cats, and it might work great for a while. But you never know, one day his prey drive could just kick in and he’d demolish the cat. It also meant we’d have to crate him whenever we left the house, to protect the cats. So, back he went.

I’m pretty sad right now.

:frowning:

I’m so sorry.

I’m sorry your dog didn’t work out. There is another dog out there for you, and this one will find a lovely catless home to love him.

Sorry about the lack of a fit with the-dog-who-has-no-name. Do get another dog, and do ask us our opinion again. It was fun. By the way, my daughter, Attacklass, thought the hound was adorable.
