Help! (Need gift ideas for my wife)

OK, Mrs. Fresh’s birthday is coming up, and I’m looking for gift ideas.

Here’s some background. She’s a hardcore geek and proud of it. She’s already told me what she wants for her birthday (a satellite radio and minor computer stuff), but I also like getting her offbeat things as well. For the past couple of years, I’ve gotten her silly bumper stickers and refrigerator magnets, but that’s wearing thin.

She’s got a great, really dark sense of humor (For my birthday one year, she sent me a package with a stuffed seal and a nerf baseball bat–OK, some of you might question her sense of humor, but it made me laugh). She’s extremely intelligent. The thing is that she’s independent. She doesn’t need a lot or want a lot, and what she really wants, she tends to buy for herself. Also, she doesn’t have a lot of hobbies. Her free time revolves around cooking, watching soaps, writing soap fan-fic, and posting on soap message boards. It doesn’t bother me, because I’m not much more adventurous than she is, but it does make it hell to pick stuff out for her. She doesn’t read the books or listen to the CD’s I give her, even though she’s genuinely grateful for them. I’m banging my head against the wall–literally. Mrs. Fresh says that if I don’t stop it, she’s going to bang my head against the wall, and she thinks she can do a better job of it than I can.

I really want to give her something that’ll make an impression on her. It doesn’t have to be practical (in fact, whimsical is good).

I would be thankful for any advice. What would you give your nerd? What are some great geek gifts you’ve given or gotten that have made an impression?

Have you checked out the selection at thinkgeek.com?

She might enjoy these realistic body part Jello molds.

For Christmas my husband screwed up and in January I got the coolest cell phone I didn’t think I wanted or needed. I love it.
For Valentine’s Day he screwed up big time and I just now got my personalized license plates that say PITOCYN. I SO love it. It’s personal. It’s geeky. It’s SO me! It shows he gets me and supports who I am.

MissMossie, I’m already choosing one or two gifts I want to get her off of ThinkGeek.

Harriet, I might get those molds and try to cook her something special myself!

Cyn, I like the cellphone idea. I’ve got a total n00b question coming from an untechnical librarian geek, but how would you suggest getting her a new cellphone without her finding out? Can I just go down to my phone company, pick out a cellphone with all the bells and whistles, and get it processed so that she can use it as soon as I give it to her, or do I give it to her and then we go down to the cell phone company together and get it set up?

One word: Meatpants. If you also choose to include tickets to Jellystone (home of Yogi Bear) and a life insurance policy, that’s your choice.

Well thanks, Tuck, I just became a vegetarian.

Those three girls are pretty cute. I’d feel a lot better about hanging out with them, though, if they lost the knife!

How about a totally bitchin’ shirt like this one ?
