We sang this song for our sixth grade graduation ceremony twelve years ago:
Goodbye dear friends, it’s time to be moving along
Goodbye and so long.
We’ll meet again, but now we’ll be drifting along
Good luck and keep strong,
Goodbye, oh goodbye
We hope to see you soon
Goodbye, oh goodbye
Until we meet again.
So until then, we’ve got to be moving along
Goodbye and so long
(Goodbye and so long)
Good luck and keep strong,
(Good luck and keep strong)
And keep on-a singing our song.
I recall that the accompanying music was very simple-- it was just a piano part. The song was sung by what sounded like a children’s choir, which added nicely to the melancholy feel of the song.
IIRC, the record that they got the song from was by either a group of musicians, or just two guys (I’m not sure on this detail). They did a lot of music for young children. My guess is that the record came out in the late 70s/early 80s, but I’m not sure on this one, either.
Any ideas about the title and performers? I’ve been trying to find info on this song for years, so any help would be very, very much appreciated.
