Help the Mounties name their puppies. Cuteness abounds

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police need names for ten puppies.

The actual competition is restricted to those under 16 years of age; in addition, the names must begin with “S,” and be under 9 letters in length, and have one or two syllables.

I dare them to use “Shania.”

Can the Dopers come up with some appropriate (or inappropriate) names?

Warning: excessive cuteness.

OK, I’m a cat person, and those puppies are just too cute!

As a name for a working police dog, I would suggest “Starsky.”

What could be a better name for a police dog than “Seamus”?

So, “Dieffenbaker” is right out, then?

Seriously, puppies often have a negative reaction to the “S” sound - it’s instinctual, as it can protect them from harm from snakes. Whoever decided on the “must start with S” thing apparently is not aware of this.

I think “Sarge” would be a good name for a police dog.

Sikorsky.

See OP.
(Dogs respond best to names of one or two syllables.)

Ya Wanna, I’m also older than 16, and not a Canuck. (Though my sister was, at one point.) If’n I’m breaking some of the rules, what’s a few more?

Okay, though. If Sikorsky doesn’t fit, how’s about Skeeve?

are you sure these mounties are in canada? not on vulcan?

dieffenbaker would be great name. i love that show!

how about Sasha? What cute babies!

Yeah, but in that spirit, why bother starting the name with “S”? We’re just trying to find names that fit the criteria, not fit them ourselves, right?

When they take on a new litter of puppies, they give them names that all start with the same letter. Guide dogs are the same way. I’m thinking “Sangre,” “Stupid” or “Stutz.”

I like Smitty.

Do there have to be as many French names as English ones?
