help...this riddle is driving me nuts!

I had the same thoughts as Chief, I think Humans is the best fit, the only part that does not is the statement (that is not a part of the riddle) that the answer is intangible.

Maybe a particular person is tangible but the concept of humans is not (at least in the writer’s mind).

I vote for humans.

I’m not so sure about that humans knowing who they are part…

Loosed doesn’t mean the same thing as lost. Loosed means “unleashed”, so using lost would convey a very different meaning.

I don’t want to make people think like me, I want them to think like me of their own free will.

Hey! I already said I was stupid, do you have to rub it in?

I still say, “a shadow”.

I COME IN ALL SIZES
IN SHAPES AND LOCATIONS,
Literally. Not just a grandiose way of saying folks are different.

I TRAVEL THE WORLD AND
CONNECT EVERY NATION.
Shadow cross borders and travel everywhere.

HUMANS CREATE ME
Trivially true.

FOR HUMANS I’M USED
Shadow play, etc.

OFTEN HINDERD AM I
WHEN NATURE’S POWER IS LOOSED
This is the only real stretch, but there are few shadows during foul weather (overcast, etc.)

YOU’LL FIND ME WHEREVER
IMAGINATION IS FOUND
Shadow puppets, anyone?

SOMETIMES IN THE SKY,
MORE OFTEN ON THE GROUND.
Eclipse, airplanes, etc. But much more often seen on the ground.

THINK HARD NOW, DEAR READER
AND THEN ANSWER TRUE
I KNOW WHAT I AM, DO YOU?
Yes. A shadow.

The best lack all conviction
The worst are full of passionate intensity.

Just a passing thought…
Satan, I’m perplexed that you didn’t think of this…

I believe the answer is

Soul.

Soul seems to work. Or mind.

I did not realize that souls were created by humans, had a definitive size or shape, or were hindered by “nature loosed”.

I agree with Spiritus Mundi: A shadow fits.

It is too clear, and so it is hard to see.

Try “dreams”.

dreams in the sky? but more often on the ground. Maybe the answer is “red herring”.

I think that Jois has the right “idea”

Borders. A border fits with the hint of intangible. (Yeah, a wall that marks a border is tangible, but the concept that it is a border is intangible.)
I COME IN ALL SIZES
IN SHAPES AND LOCATIONS,

Should be obvious.
I TRAVEL THE WORLD AND
CONNECT EVERY NATION.

This is the main clue.
HUMANS CREATE ME
FOR HUMANS I’M USED

Borders are not used by animals. They are invented and used by humans.
OFTEN HINDERD AM I
WHEN NATURE’S POWER IS LOOSED

This is the weakest argument for ‘borders,’ but, hey, it is even a weaker clue for everything else suggested so far. A natural disaster can block movement over a border or even change a border (such as a river changing its course).
YOU’LL FIND ME WHEREVER
IMAGINATION IS FOUND
SOMETIMES IN THE SKY,
MORE OFTEN ON THE GROUND.

Borders are most associated with dividing land (ground), but can be used for the sky (a nations air space). Borders are imaginary lines.
THINK HARD NOW, DEAR READER
AND THEN ANSWER TRUE
I KNOW WHAT I AM, DO YOU?

This is just a non-clue verse to tell you that this is a riddle. This is not a clue that the intangible thing is sentient. And it is not the answer, ‘true.’ Since when is ‘true’ associated with the ground and sometimes the sky?

Peace.

ok, i e-mailed the kid with a list of our answers
he says they’re all wrong

THINK HARD NOW, DEAR READER
AND THEN ANSWER TRUE
is the answer “true?”
if not, how 'bout

lightning
a map(globe or atlas
shadows
people
thoughts

i’ve already guessed most of the other things that were posted

borders…(i thought that was a good guess too)
love… (he says it’s not an emotion)

i’ve tried death threats, but this kid isn’t budging,

i’ve told him he’s evil…he insists i’m mistaken

i’ll send him the next bunch of answers today and see what i get out of him

thanks for your help folks if we can’t get this riddle, we can, at least plot ways to kill him!

Mel, this may seem a bit pedestrian, but why not just direct him to this thread? That way he can offer his own critique, and we don’t need to second geuss this thrid party message relay, and we can get the gramatical question resloved.

thats a great idea! i’ll send him a link now

Well, a pretty stupid guess, but could it be a (sun)“tan”?

I don’t think this is too good of an answer; the clues have to be distorted quite a lot in order for it to make sense…

“Intangible” could be interpreted as “in tangible”. (“IN” the word “TANGIBLE”)

I COME IN ALL SIZES
I guess you could cover various parts of your body up so the tan would only be a certain size.

IN SHAPES AND LOCATIONS,
Same as above

I TRAVEL THE WORLD AND
CONNECT EVERY NATION.
The sun “travels”(in a manner of speaking) the world and tans all (the people of) every nation.

HUMANS CREATE ME
In a very indirect sort of way… we “create” the tan by allowing the sun to tan us.

FOR HUMANS I’M USED
Tans could be used for looks (showing off to other humans)

OFTEN HINDERD AM I
WHEN NATURE’S POWER IS LOOSED

Nature’s powered is loosed… storms, hurricanes… no sun and hence no tan.

YOU’LL FIND ME WHEREVER
IMAGINATION IS FOUND
SOMETIMES IN THE SKY,
MORE OFTEN ON THE GROUND.
Dunno about this one. More often on the ground, definitely, but do pilots/astronauts/any-airbone-things get tanned in the sky? I don’t think so…

But it could be thought of as the sun “tanning” entire planetorial surfaces (like Mercury)… however, this would pretty much nullify the “humans create me” clue. Unless, perhaps, we’re actually “tanning” the Earth via the greenhouse effect and allowing the sun’s heat to be retained within our atmosphere more.

Moriah: Just FYI, “borders and boundaries” was one of the incorrect guesses that the poster said was made. No offense.

Tell him he needs to say WHY they are wrong. There could be more than one correct answer. Just because they don’t agree with what he is thinking isn’t good enough.

It is too clear, and so it is hard to see.

I cannot believe this “kid” has not confessed yet, but you know what? A lot of the guesses provided do fit, which shows this riddle has more than one answer, which means the answer this “kid” has is just another one. I doubt it could be any more or less applicable than many of the other answers already provided. I say the riddle has been solved many times over by the wit and imagination of this board.

Of course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.
