I get this sort of thing at school occasionally.
It’s OK for a while, but once you’ve made some reasonable guesses, the kid should give the answer.
Don’t use death threats, just tell him you’ve lost interest and don’t want to know the answer anymore.
This will pressure him enormously - as long as you stay calm, he’ll crack.

What about “machine”? It has 7 letters and more or less fits the clues. The concept of one can be thought of as intagible, I suppose.

I think we came up with many viable answers.
We just didn’t guess the one the kid thought was the only answer.
You need to consider that there are other answers when you post a riddle, and acknowledge when someone posts something that would work also.
