Help With Ham

There was a sale at the grocery store last week so I got a 9 lb ham. Mmm, ham. Now, after a couple hours in the oven and some strategic slicing, I have ham cubes, ham slices, ham steaks, shredded ham, and other assorted ham bits.

Now I need recipes! What should I do with all of this delicious, delicious ham?

Make split pea soup with the bone. You can also grind up ham, onion, and celery and add some mayo to make a ham spread for sandwhiches.

Scalloped potatoes with ham, ham on homemade pizza, fried rice with ham, minestrone, add it to homefries, put it on salad, make scrambled eggs and strata. Grilled ham and cheese.

I would suggest stashing most of it in the freezer and eating it interspersed with other things. You could get awfully tired of it if you tried to eat the whole thing in one go.

Really, really tired.

Grilled Ham and Cheese Tacos. Melty cheese (Montery Jack Jalapeno), grilled poblano strips, grilled ham strips/batons, in a double (two) lightly fried corn tortilla. Use Avocado and Spicy Green Salsa.

Ham in a Roux… maybe some hame based sauces. Ham is an almost immediate and encompassant sauce fortification. Grind some with your beef hamburger… make Real HAMburgers.

Reminds me of the old Virginia saying:
forever is two people and a ham

(of course they were speaking of a full 20lb leg, but the principle holds.)

I like to steam some broccoli and cauliflower, add cubed ham and some cheese sauce. Stir up, devour.
