My friend’s daughter popped up on msn the other night, and her status was:
“I <3 M pills”
I have googled m pills to no avail - I wondered if it was a slang name for something… Has anyone heard of this?

Sounds to me like “m” is “my”, and pills is just pills! Of course, this could be anything from paracetamol to the less legal stuff.

Migraine Pills? As a teen who suffers from migraines easily under stress, those things are a godsend.
The only probably thing I came up with was a Ukrainiane DJ. My guess is this is some kind of inside joke.
I can find a Canadian pharmacy called m-pills, they seem to be a typical pharmacy though, maybe with a slightly high amount of sexual enhancement and ED pills, but they also have anti-biotics, acid reflux, allergy etc.

Just a wild guess, but several pain pills produced by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals include an M stamp on them, including hydromorphone (generic Dilaudid), acetaminophen and codeine phosphate (generic Tylenol 3), and several types that include hydrocodone or oxycodone (generic Vicodin/Lortab or Percocet). Some of Mylan Pharmaceuticals’ pills also have an M stamp, including alprazolam (generic Xanax).
Could also be something more innocent, of course, but I’d be initially suspicious of one of the above.

That’s what I get out of it too. “I ate three Dilaudid” or "I sideways heart symbol ‘M’ pills, which could also be a referance to Excasty where in M = Monster.

I didn’t notice your location until just now. Not sure whether Mallinckrodt/Mylan sell the same pills in Australia, and I wouldn’t dare to guess what kind of bizarre slang might be in use there (assuming the friend’s daughter is also Down Under).
Cluricaun, you mind explaining the “Monster” thing to someone who hasn’t been in the ecstasy loop for a very long time?
Neither have I, but back in my day there were double sized pills referred to as “Monster Rolls” available from time to time. I’d imagine they’re still around.

M=them. It’s “I love them pills.” You know, like “Gotta love 'em.” That doesn’t explain the capitalization though.

My first thought was Morphine. I don’t know anyone who would call Ecstasy “M”.
The quite hip teenager who lives in my basement (my step-daughter) tells me this term refers to “mercedes” (unsure if it’s spelled like the car or not), and is a particular kind of ecstasy. She will double-check with her acquaintances to make sure, but she’s almost positive.
She also clued me in that the term for taking ecstasy is “rolling,” as in, “I’m rolling hard on this E,” as one of an older generation might have said, “I"m tripping hard on this acid.”
Would someone advertise this on their status message on an online IM program, where she (assumedly) knows her parent’s friend can see it? That’s note much better than writing “reminder LSD in this cabinet” and then sticking it on the bathroom medicine cabinet before their parents take a shower. My overwhelming feeling is that it’s something totally and completely innocent.
Why not ask her (or your friend, assuming you’re not close enough to her that you can just pop up a window any old time).
