Helpme, Lady - or, a very typical MMP

I’ve never made a pilgrimage although I did go to the Vatican. Does that count?

Oh, dear, moooom! (pun intended) Glad you are okay. Who gets the venison?

Good vibes going out to tarra’s dad.

Lots of trick-or-treaters last night and they kept coming way after my designated cutoff time. Kind of surprised me as I was expecting an earlier crowd with school today.

Best comment of the night:

Child comes to door and holds out bag.
Tupug drops candy in child’s bag.
Child’s mom prompts “What do you say?”
Child without hesitation replies “CHEESE!”

Didn’t have that, but a number of 2 and 3 year olds answered “Thank You!” They got extras…

Had one older kid walking his younger sibs around, and he said he wasn’t allowed to ToT. I slipped him a Reese’s Cup anyway.

Oddly enough, after I turned around and drove back home, I didn’t see any deer on the side of the road. Of course, my headlights were aimed kinda wonky, so I may have missed it, but maybe the stupid deer was able to limp off the side of the road. There was no hair or blood on my poor little car… :frowning:

Tow truck has taken my Scion to the shop. I’ve got a rental reserved thru Avis - even with the Geico discount, Enterprise was more expensive than Avis with AAA discount. So yay for that. **FCD **will come pick me up eventually and take me to the Avis place which is conveniently near his work - I’m hoping we can have lunch together, too. Then I’ve got to drive over to the base where I work and get a temporary pass so I can get to work in the morning. The security office isn’t open at 6…

Meanwhile, I await the call from the adjuster and the shop to find out when it’ll be ready. And between our deductible ($1K) and the rental, this will be an expensive week. Thank goodness for savings.

We didn’t have any candy beggars, but then we didn’t have the light on or any decorations out. The one year we tried, there were maybe 20 kids - just not worth our aggravation, what with dealing with dogs and cats and leftover candy. But I’d give extras to any kid saying “CHEESE!” That was too adorable!

Names A through G bring hot dishes, H to N salads and everyone else desserts. It does bring up a question in my mind though - where do we fall in the “good Jew/bad Jew” debate. I’m kind of a Petrine in my theology if that counts for anything.

I’ve never been in a synagogue at all. :stuck_out_tongue:

Clearly, our [del]plot[/del] plan to [del]take over[/del] improve the world is working – first step, everybody should measure their actions by Jewish standards!

**Kopek **-- Given name or Surname? (not that it actually matters in my case…)

Boy, what a fun weekend! Or not. The rental person was kind and let us stay past midnight. We’d thought we were almost done, but actually had an additional carful of stuff, so we were moving till 6:30 this morning. We drove from Columbus to Cincinnati-ish 3 times yesterday. Needless to say, I’m not at work this morning.

Am crawling back into bed for a while, then it’s up to start re-homing and sorting stuff.

GT

Same thing for us Southern Baptists. I swear, though, some of them bow down to Nashville three times a day.

Not like Sunday is the Sabbath, anyhow, IMHO. Most of the towns around here celebrated on Saturday. One celebrated on Sunday, and all kinds of cain was raised about it. Didn’t much matter to me when it was celebrated, honestly: as long as the kids had a good time with it.

Happy Monday, everybody! kopek, I’m a G, but can I bring a dessert? I make a mean banana pudding!

Ouch. Flu shot.

OK, I have my rental - a silver Chevy Cobalt. Not a bad car, but it barely fit in my side of the garage. It’s not a huge car, but my Scion is shorter, so we arranged stuff to take advantage of that. We’ll just have to squeeze by the rental for a week or so. Or I could park it outside and give the kid a break…

Still haven’t heard from the insurance adjuster. I just left him a voice mail. Next step is another call to GEICO. I don’t expect instant answers, but they picked up the car 5 hours ago - does it take that long to figure out what it’ll take to fix?

Soup for supper. That’s all I’ve got. Got a case of the Mondays for sure.

Cheese Louise FCM! I’m glad you’re okay, but sorry about your poor car.

They did trick or treating last night in this neck of the woods. I was worried that I was going to run out of candy, but the kids finally petered out around 9:00 and that’s when I shut my porch light off. Anyone showing after then was too old to be grabbing for free candy, in my not so humble opinion.

There were some cute kids and most were polite and said please, thank you, and happy halloween. There were a couple that grumbled about what I handed them. I had quite the grab bag of choices; Hot Tamales, Mike and Ikes, all kinds of Reese’s products, Hershey bars, Milky Ways, Almond Joys, and Tootsie Pops. I was giving each of the kids two or three pieces of candy, so it’s not like I was being miserly. I would have given more, but they were piling up at my door six to ten at at at time.

Anyway, I’m glad it’s over. It’s a pain the ass restraining the dogs so they don’t make a mad dash outside.

Well, I need to get back to the grind.

Hugs and smooches!

MOOOOOOM that is not how one hunts for deer! :stuck_out_tongue: Sorry about the crunched up car but glad there’s no crunched up you.

We have a labyrinth at church that’s sorta kinda like a Pilgrimage. ‘Tis relaxatin’ to walk it, really!

Dindin tonight is pepper steak (served over rice), green sallit and garlic bread. Can’t wait. I’s hongry!

I used to work at a body shop. Hearing anything today seems overly optimistic in my opinion. But I have been wrong before.

I decided I’d call the adjuster since I hadn’t heard from him. Turns out, he was waiting for me to give authorization to the shop. No one bothered to tell me I had to authorize the shop. So I twiddled my thumbs all day while my car just sat.

Anyway, the authorization is finally at the shop. I have no idea when I’ll hear back - I will call tomorrow sometime. I’m also going to have some words for GEICO - how was I to know who I was to call and when? grrrrrrr

So, I take it I’m not the only one that would like to smoosh that smarmy little Geico gecko right now?

Dindin has been consumed. It was an eat and run for OYKW cause he’s got a buncha paperwork to do, poor thing. Actually, he’s checkin’ files to ensure that all the necessary buncha paperwork is there. Such is medical documentation I reckon.

Great pics, Nava. One of the things I really like about the 'Dope is learning about things like this.

Sorry about the car, FCM! Hope it can get fixed quickly.

We had a good weekend with the parents. Mom had planned a partial surprise party for Dad. He knew we were going out, but expected 4 of us, and there were actually 13 people. So he was happy and had a good birthday.

We flew in to Dulles and went to the Air & Space museum there. That’s really cool.

I thought that I broke my toe on Saturday, accidentally kicking the sofa, but today it doesn’t hurt too badly so I think it was just really badly bruised. It’s a lovely shade of purple. I’m still hobbling around a bit.

I must have missed who/what/where gt was moving so I’ll have to go reread last week’s. I’ll be back when I catch up.

I think you mean tenure of the note - a tenor sings a note.

Just in case you’re not kidding… tenor can also mean the drift or mood of written material.

Of course I can be tone deaf to jokes!

BINGO PICTURES! As long as transvestites won’t get you fired, they are plenty safe for work.

I hope all this works

A typical table

One reason I’m glad I didn’t wear my usual clothes

A general group shot and another here

Some people didn’t shop for their finery - some shopped a little – but the hardest part is always the shoes

Of these two ladies, the taller is actually the more shy quiet and reserved

Ruble may I say you make a georgeous little Dutch girl and the shoes just make the outfit!
