"Hench-Man" [22:09]. A TV Show Pilot I made with my best friends.

Hey Straight Dope, My name is Joseph Sweredoski. I used to be a regular on these boards, but I’ve been elsewhere for a while.

I wanted to drop in and share with you all a TV Show Pilot I made wrote and directed about the lives and foibles of super-evil villain henchmen. It’s called:

“Hench-Man”

It’s a show that was inspired by “The Venture Bros” and "“Pete’s Overlord List”, though I aimed to give the show the sensibilities of a good episode of “Scrubs”…at least near the final 1/3rd anyways. It includes throwbacks to Adam West’s “Batman”, “Might Morphin Power Rangers”, “Rambo”, “Death Race 2000”, and much more.

The reason why I created this pilot was because as many times as super-evil villains have had their heads bitten off by sharks, thrown into incinerators, been shot up, disintegrated by a faulty security system, or pushed off a ledge for their bosses’ amusement (and let’s face it: ours too), no seems to know very much about henchmen. Or care. And that in and of itself seems a bit evil, does it not? And so this pilot was made to answer the hard questions about this most particularly odd lifestyle, such as:
[ul]
[li]“Why are they so poorly trained?”[/li][li]“Do they at least make good money?”[/li][li]“Why would someone ever become a super-evil villain henchmen in the first place?”[/li][/ul]

and…

[ul]
[li]“Seriously, why don’t just find a new job for God’s sake? I mean, I know the job market sucks and all but these guys are lucky to even make it though their first day on the job. It’s not worth it, man!”[/li][/ul]

These are questions we’ve all heard from our friends and ourselves while watching Saturday Morning Cartoons, Action movies, and serial TV action shows.

Well it is in my pilot that I attempt to answer these questions and more, and I would be honored to share it with you all. So far it’s been getting some very positive reactions from people and so hopefully you all will dig it as well!

I’m not asking for money, I’m not linking anyone to a Kickstarter page. I just want to share me and my friend’s hard work with you all. I would like to create additional installments for the show in the future, but my ability to do so entirely depends on whether people care for the content. And so, if any of you are fans of it, it’s worth noting that a positive comment on the Youtube page, or a “Thumbs Up”, can go a very long way in paving the way for a story’s future. And that’s all I have to say about that.

I hope you all enjoy watching it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it. Thank you for letting me share it with you today. If anyone has any questions or feedback I’ll be around :).
