Hendrix Question

There is an ad currently running here in Sweden which shows Jimi Hendrix playing in Stockholm in 1966. It shows him playing and then starting on the encore, when the Swedish managers backstage remove the power cords. (not chords in an attempt to show him up).

I was just wondering if this really happened (it is an ad for an electricity company). None of the sites I looked at on the web mentioned this. But the footage looks fairly good. Did someone really stop Hendirx from playing?

Thank you for any responses.

Well,I live in Australia so I haven’t seen the ad,but theres no reason for the footage not to be real. There would have been any number of tight arsed officials in Sweden in 1966 only too willing to pull the plug on Wild Jimi…

It did indeed happen. He played at Gröna Lund (the local amusement park in Stockholm) and for commercial reasons performances must not be longer than 30 minutes (methinks), as the establishment would loose too much money with all carousels and other loud attractions shut off.

Thanks for that, It was just a spot what is wrong with this ad type competition. Now I can Win, Ha haha ha. If I cared.

There is currently a hall and open area at Gröna Lund which bands play in, and it looks rather old (older than the attractions anyway). I think it the half hour limit would be more so that people actually spend more money on the attractions (why pay entry into a park, and then pay for every ride that one goes on?)

Thanks again Floater
