Cavill has one more season that they have filmed that will air in a future date.
Hrmm, not sure I like the casting choice. Geralt is so stoic and dour, not sure if Hemsworth can pull that off.
I loved Henry in this role. I’ll be sad to see him go.
Agreed. Cavill’s performance has been the one consistently great thing about the show, which has been pretty uneven from a writing standpoint.
I’ve really enjoyed Cavill, but if he is moving on I wish him well.
I hope Hemsworth is equally good. It would not be the first franchise to replace the lead, I hope it will be successful.
Hemsworth’s a good enough actor, given this isn’t Shakespeare, so I’m sure he’ll do OK.
I will miss Cavill, though, and it sucks if he’s indeed leaving to play Superman again.
I’ve really liked Cavill. This news makes me sad.
I had the impression that Hemsworth was much younger than Cavill, but they’re 32 and 39 so that’s not that big a difference.
I think Cavill is great as the Witcher, terrible as Superman. So this annoys me. I’ll give it a shot, but I’m not optimistic.
I think a lot of the problems with the writing are because they’re trying to fit something of a square peg into a round hole between the books and the show.
The structure of the early books wasn’t sequential or connected, and even some of the “main” characters weren’t well developed until late in the books. And it feels to me like they tried to resequence the vignettes into something of a coherent order, and bring in and/or flesh out characters that weren’t fleshed out, or who weren’t fleshed out that early. I mean, Istredd wasn’t a main character at all, but he’s fairly major in the TV show so far. Yennefer ends up fleshed out, but early on, she was rather mysterious. A lot of the Nilfgaardian conquest of Cintra wasn’t really fleshed out until the last couple of books, instead of being in the first or second episode.
So it’s necessarily going to be kind of screwed up if they’re trying to come up with an alternate compelling story order and fleshing stuff out of whole cloth to make it fit.
I think Hemsworth can do it well, but I think Cavill was the real soul of the show. He nailed Geralt in a way that is going to be hard to follow.
So, what are we thinking? Will they have Geralt drink the fancy shapeshifting potion to explain the new face and body, or is it something they feel like bothering to explain at all? If they did want to go with a potion (or spell or magical thingamajig), they could do a fancy transformation sequence that I bet people would like.
I’d prefer they simply not mention it.
yeah - maybe he could die and regenerate!
Spectacularly creative!
Definitely. His Superman left a lot to be desired and I never even made it thru his first appearance. No way I try to watch him again.
Not really thrilled with Liam Hemsworth either. I’ve only seen him in The Hunger Games and wasn’t that impressed. I think he could be accurately described as a poor man’s Chris Hemsworth.
Hemsworth plays the previously unmentioned identical twin. A powerful spell altered his appearance. Inspired by the James Garner TV Western Nichols.
That’s the coldest thing I’ve read on this board in years. Besides, Luke Hemsworth has already been cast as a poor man’s Chris Hemsworth.
So, perhaps Liam is a poor man’s Luke Hemsworth?
Cold? I just realized there were two Hemsworths that aren’t Chris. I think at some point I knew this, but had forgotten. Wow.
That’s the coldest thing I’ve read in this board in the past 5 minutes.
There’s actually three, and Liam is the only one who hasn’t been in the MCU.
