The Church has it that Armstrong’s views were “unusual”, and that the doctrines weren’t “biblical”. After he died in 1986, they had a change of opinion.
So – the Church is still going, but not exactly to Armstrong’s plan.
I used to listen to Garner Ted Armstrong back in 1972-73 while I was getting ready for work. It was something to take my mind off more serious matters.
I hope that you don’t mind if I ask a question along a similar line. Does anyone know what became of the guy that was on the show The Doctor Is In? He was sort of a cross between an evangelist and a peacock. I remember he usually sat in a chair on a stage and wore lots of different hats – fireman’s hat, etc. He just talked and people called in and gave money, I think. But I was never sure what it was for. Weird and fascinating show!
