I think i figured out the issue of the gender thread. What Q’s comment meant to me was: Poster A thinks that his/her posts are colored by Poster B’s gender.
What Q has said is : Poster A’s comments are colored by Poster A’s gender.
It’s not what the consensus is, as I understand ppl’s take on it.
What bothers me about Q is this “smart” business. We all know Dopers who score high on intellligence tests, others who are leaders in their fields. We welcome other intelligent individuals to the fold. But don’t sit there and wallow in your ‘smart-ness’. It’s not good form. And Q, don’t worry about the “big” words. We understand you. More than you do us, evidently.

You completely lost me. Whose assessment? Were you talking about my assessment or Orbifold’s? As for me, I’ve both read the entire thread (although not in order) and have been the lucky witness to QG’s behavior many times.

Stupid of me to step foot in this thread, but the “smart” thing seems like an unfair criticism. She was writing in a thread the very purpose of which was for people to explain how an apparent advantage (beauty, intelligence, or whatever) can actually cause trouble for those who have them.

Yep, currently manage them.
I spent about seven years as a consultant - LOTS of short term projects. The thing is 90% of my clients either looked to rehire me or referred me in to other organizations (or offered me jobs outright). I haven’t consulted since early 2000 and have gotten calls as recently as a year ago from former coworkers or clients on these jobs wondering if I’m looking. And my current job came to me from such a referral.
Long before I consulted I temped - same story. I had people all over looking for my time.
In my experience, when people love you and you are good at what you do, they help you find a similar job when your project ends. There are exceptions - I know a lot of people who were good who couldn’t find much in the year or so after 9/11.
