I will pack tomorrow as I have the goodies. Hopefully it will also go out tomorrow, but if not, I’ll mail it on Thursday.
SGE XIX contribution consigned via Australia Post destination US West Coast.
A more accurate consignee address is recorded on the parcel.
ETA not known but I counsel patience.
Mine is going out today.
And this time I remembered the live mice and the airholes.
Mine is on it’s way to the great Northwest. I’m told it should be there Monday or Tuesday.
Now mailed, and will be there in 3-4 days.

My wife and I are taking a safari to the beautiful (and likely very wet as it’s been raining buckets for days) Oregon coast to pick up some final bits of swag for my recipient. It should all be packaged and in the hands of the USPS soon.
Fun fact. I repurposed an Amazon box with those smilies all over it. The USPS clerk thought it was funny.
Me, too. The boxes are just the right size for this kind of thing.
A mysterious package arrived at Old Ben Kenobi’s hut this morning. @silenus , you are a nut.
Below is a photo of all the content, including:
- Three shot glasses
- Four little liquor bottles (two rum, one whiskey, one vodka; these may not survive the evening)
- Three collector pins
- A keychain
- A Jurassic Park collector’s coin
- An R2-D2 model kit
- Two Star Trek action figures (Bones and Sulu)
- A Star Trek comic book
- A set of patches from the Destiny video game
- Alien beef jerky (made from real alien beefs, I have no doubt)
- A deck of Maker’s Mark playing cards, which my wife has already appropriated
- A jar of pickled cherry peppers, grown and jarred by silenus himself
Thank you so much!
De nada. Look carefully through the wrapping paper - Spock and Sulu should have a couple of hand-held items.
Which reminds me - I need to stop in Baker this weekend and pick up more jerky.
Found 'em! Thank you!
Finally back home (though I managed to leave my jacket, containing my passport, earbuds, and car keys in the airport in Denver), so I should be able to get about and get some items picked up over the next few days!
Took my package to the UPS Store today to ship it out, and made the mistake of answering honestly when they asked what the contents were. Apparently one of Kansas’ many fucked up liquor laws is that individuals are not allowed to ship alcohol out of state. So now I need to figure out a plan B. (@Baker, you’ve done this before… PM me if you have any suggestions.)
The US mail will ask the same question, so be prepared to either lie or don’t include spirits. I plead the fifth about which I’ve chosen.
But, did you mail a fifth?
Cumulatively, yes.
Single instances? Nope, those fifths I pop in my car and deliver personally. Nebraska has precious few distilleries that produce spirits worthy of gifting, so that helps preserve my moral compliance.
If you can’t ship booze, ship money/gift certificate with instructions. If you Yelp, you can even tell them where to pick it up.
I could truthfully answer “Some heavy glass items.”

That’s what I was thinking for Plan B, or maybe Plan C. Just stick a Visa gift card in there with a note “Get yourself something nice.”
They usually ask if you are shipping liquids.
I’ve never been asked before either what was I shipping, or if I was shipping liquids. That’s why the whole thing took me by surprise. Oh well, I’ll figure something out.
