Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 52 and mostly. This is more typical Winter weather for these parts. I shall start chili in the slow cooker in a bit. That will be sup tonight, plus some to freeze for later use. I also get to call the pharmacy to refill two ‘scripts and then go pick ‘em up. Life is just a never endin’ whirlwind!
Amazingly, I’m not currently dealing with feline tantrums over the food dish not being available. They did get second supper shortly before the midnight “do not let her eat after this point” deadline, which hopefully helped.
In a few hours, Kasya’s off for her spay. Not sure how she’s going to take being in a carrier or a car, or how Buddy’s going to react to her absence. We pick her up late afternoon, then comes the challenge of keeping her reasonably calm and sedentary while she’s healing up.
I had a decent sleep, which I needed. Woke to temps in the 20s (outside!!! Comfier inside!) It’s not getting out of the 40s today, and later in the week, we might see snow. I’m pretty much done with winter. Dammit.
Plans for today include a run to Food Lion and Aldi, and painting 4 vent covers. Plus it’s septic tank treatment day - I flush a little pod of stuff down the terlit. Not a particularly difficult job.
Otis has a new outside toy. When he stayed with the dog sitter yesterday, he apparently enjoyed tossing a plastic gallon jug around and chasing it. As it happens, I had a plastic jug from kitteh litter, so I gave it to him. He destroyed the lid - luckily I found it and threw it away - but so far, the jug is intact and he’s enjoying it. So yay!
Last night, he cornered Ziva in the shower. It could have been bad, but he’s afraid of her so he never got closer than two feet or so, and I dragged him out of there before she drew blood. I guess he’s trying to figure her out or play or something and she wants no part of it. Worse than toddlers…
I can’t remember. How old is Otis? I’ve dealt with quite a few puppies who thought older cats would be good playmates, and were quickly educated otherwise by the cat in question.
I feel a little bit off today. I’m not sure why. I tried to go back to sleep this morning since I was up, as usual, around 3. My nap was maybe 50 minutes. Now I’m sitting here freezing because I’m wearing a short sleeved shirt. Soon I’ll get up, find my hoodie, and wander over to my desk to start work. Rah.
He turned 1 in October, so 15 months? Technically still a puppy. Ziva is 17 and she isn’t interested in being his friend. (She barely tolerates FCD most of the time.) When she’s under the bed, she’s safe. I’m not sure how he cornered her in the shower.
It’s still only 28 Ferrets out there. I’ll head out in about an hour to do my errands, then back to do some quick painting. Maybe some rollsuckage after that.
That reminds me of the Gremlins movie, where the new owners of the cute gremlin were warned against getting them wet or feeding them after dark. Havoc ensued.
It’s Monday Morning, time to go Postal! It’s 26 Ferrets out there, rising to 36. Freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw, etc. Paving moguls are chortling in gleeful greed. Gleed?
My phone tells me it has a 2% charge, so I should plug it in real soon.
I had Mrs. Nott put my USA Curling sweatshirt on Poshmark yesterday, The Winter Olympics start next week.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and scattered showers. Weather app says “This fucking rain is like the annoying person that sits next to you at work. It’s fucking annoying.” Not so! The person who sits next to me is not at all annoying, the person who sits two desks behind me is far more annoying.
I was advised to keep Ophelia quiet and calm after she had her op, and to feed her soft food like scrambled egg etc in case she’s got a post-anaesthesia tum. The look she gave me when I offered her some eggs was pure filth! Keeping her calm at home wasn’t happening either, she came out of her carrier and started firing round the house on all cylinders. The best I could do was keep an eye on her stitches to make sure she didn’t pull them out.
Sunday was a nice quiet day of slothful inactivity here. I had nothing in particular to do so that’s what I did. Today I was up reasonably early to tend to the needs of cats. Then I washed my hair, had some breakfast, logged into work and started dealing with the little skip fires we’ve got going on at the moment.
My troublesome minion has not been in touch since last week’s drama so I’m waiting it out. We have an all-team meeting tomorrow afternoon so that might be interesting. There’s a fair bit of speculation about what might be coming, but we just have to wait and see.
We went on a quick run to the supermarket at lunchtime, I think it’s the first time in a week that the local oldies have been able to go out as it was very busy. Came back, had lunch, fed the cats again, and am pottering through some jobs. When I’m done with irk, I’m off to the gym to burn some calories, then I’ll be back home to do sausages and mash for dinner.
It’s 51F and raining outside. The forecast calls for morning rain, afternoon clouds, and a high of 53F. It rained all day yesterday, and it was very dark and dreary. Perfect couch weather.
Good luck keeping the kitten calm, Nettie.
I saw the kitten pics from last night’s posting, lily. Very cute!
I hope you start feeling better, Sticky.
I’ve currently got two dogs under my desk, a cup of coffee, and a little bit more quiet time. The garbage and the yard waste bin go down tonight. The yard waste bin is full of fir tree branches, so it needs to be emptied so I can sneak out between rainy days and do some garden and yard prep.
Part of this morning will be given over to final kitchen tidying, and then I’ll catch up on Sunday night trash tv shows. Some adulting (bill paying) will also occur.
You may or may not remember that my annuity person sent me a huge package full of Cajun treats around Christmas. The package contained a cornbread-stuffed turducken, among other things. We made that for dinner the night before last. It wasn’t bad, but I’m not a fan of heat, so I had to stay inside the outer spice rub crust. The heat just rips my tummy up, so I always have to avoid it. Tonight, we’ll have some of the leftovers. It was a pretty big roast, so I imagine there will be more leftovers after tonight.
Morning all. Stayed in bed until nearly 8am, so the week is off to a slow start (just the way I like it). Will do the usual Moanday shop-n-sammich run here in a bit, I decided to upgrade my usual Ham-n-Cheese sub to a “Club” with Turkey, Ham and bacon last week and will probably stick with that. 38F now and due to get close to 50F with all of the rain gone somewhere else (at least until Wednesday). Nothing much on the agenda this week, so some house-irk might actually be performed…or not…
Nettie, best wishes for Kasya.
Still have to make it through February, though…
FCM, Otis and the Jug sounds like a Country-Western band name…and one of these days Otis is going to get to close to Ziva and POW! Right in the kisser!!
boo fae, hope the meeting tomorrow isn’t too dramatic.
Taters, I’ve never had Turducken, I like all three of the main ingredients but putting them all together just for me would be a waste.
red , hope Nelson stays there for a bit. Rest is good.
And time to dress for the Kroger and Jersey Mike’s visits. Take care and have a good week all.
It is a bright and sunny 27F here today, wind but no snow.
Hubs is still gimping around, but he says he feels much better. He’s also talking about gout, it appears as though his blood work was indicating that as well. The gout diet consists of everything he doesn’t like and almost nothing that he does. He has a follow-up with his primary doctor in a month and will ask about it then.
I was on my tablet yesterday and it didn’t show me the kittah pics but I saw them today and squeeeee! I adore kittens, especially other people’s cause kittens are a royal pain.
When Jolene had her second spay, she was so blazed when she got home that she just cuddled up with George and slept for the rest of the day. The second day, she was up and running and wanting to play with George. Keeping them “calm” wasn’t a whole lot of fun, the best I could do was to keep them both locked up in my room with me. No wind sprints up and down the hall.
Not much planned here today. I have a loaf of bread in the rest before adding salt part (autolyse) and I need to get some groceries. I’m not really loving the colors in my new piece, but the work in fun so I’ll finish it. Its not like I don’t already have a whole pile of completed but not finished pieces or anything.
So onwards toward the day. Have good ones everyone.
I was loading Bottom Blue/Bottom White on the 100 North. It started as 8 cars, but Dispatch cut 2. Of course, he didn’t switch the on Bulk load to the new car, so I kept having to puul those boxes, pull of the (somewhat expendive)RFID labels off, and toss them on the Belt. Plus Double J, the guy doing Top Yellow/Top Green kept leaving pacakges hanging out of the cage, so I had to climb 2 feet off the belt, shove them back in , and hit the reset button. Then I had to run the Irregs, which was tough bevause I had to throw mine on, walk down, annd catch 'em. Plus I had to drag a bunch of the other set’s irregs back up since they weren’t grabbing them. Which I’m not mad at the loader, since he had to do 8 cars, and noen of them were loaded on Saturday. So much (bad)help was called in to finsih up before driver start time. I did my aldi run(only needed a few things), now it’s naptime, Spot willing.
Tornado season doesn’t pick up till March.
I’m sure explaining to the stoned kitten that Zoomies are A Bad Idea will go well.
Good morning, everyone. It was 22ºF this morning. Chloé and I were bundled up, but we walked. There was quite a lot of frost out, so I suggested to Squeaky he remote start his car, so his windows will defrost.
I has a parish youth parent meeting last night, so no yoga, and Spike was in charge of dinner. I walked him through how to make rice, and he already knows how to follow a recipe. He made butter chicken in the instant pot for everyone. Fang is about over his flu, and should be released to go back to work in a couple of days. It must be nice for your doctor to be able to call your boss, and say, “Magill isn’t going to report in for a week.” It seems Army doctors take contagion seriously, which is good.
My brane has been behaving the last couple of days, but I know that’s just a ruse. It’s trying to trick me into thinking that I’m fine and I don’t need counselling, but I’m on to it.
Hi, everyone. Last week I referred to difficult times and asked for kindly thoughts, especially for my daughter. I’d like to explain. In a nutshell, her husband of 13 years got another woman pregnant and is essentially dumping my daughter to be with that other woman. My daughter’s job was eliminated 2 weeks ago. It’s been a series of crushing blows. She’s a very sweet, caring person. From early childhood, she’s taken kids—and later adults—who’ got bullied under her wing. When she was little, she’d always fully extend the seatbelt after taking it off so the next passenger would feel thinner. She’s that kind of human.
My son-in-law was in town on Friday and asked to see me, and he’s the one who broke the news. I didn’t yell or lash out at him, partly because I was in shock and partly because I tend to be calm and focused first and react later. I did ask a lot of questions. The answers did not impress me. My daughter sent me a letter that he delivered as he left. I wish he’d given it to me before telling me the news, as it would have made me call BS when he was spinning the situation. I have many different emotions right now, but mostly, I’m heartbroken for my girl.
And back home and well-fed. Kroger is testing my will-power, as I walk in there is a display of 4-pack muffins, two Banana Nut and two Chocolate Chip Muffins. They are 500 calories each and really don’t fit my diet, but they look so damn inviting…I may yet be led into temptation…
And with 1500 calories already on-board, time to head over to the gym for walking, pedaling, and moving weights around. Good afternoon all.
Maus, sounds like your smarter than your brane…wait, that doesn’t sound right…but glad your youth were able to arrange dinner.
nellie, your message just popped on up. WOW! That was a double punch that would put most anybody down. Hang in there and be there for her, and know that both you and her have a rooting section here in the MMP.
And need to collect the instruments of sweattage and head on out.
A balmy 37F at the moment. Went to exercise, then went to the bank to get my savings account number, since the idiot who signed us on never gave it to us. The online account only gives you the last four and I needed the number to set up auto-pay for my credit card. After that, I made a quick stop at the grocery for some milk and tea for the missus. Now just chillaxin’.
Breakfast burritos today. The green chili stew I made yesterday was, of course, amazingly good and will also be tonight’s dinner and probably tomorrow’s.
No newspaper today. The third time in as many weeks. We’re very close to cancelling our subscription. I don’t read the rag, anyway.
