Here Would Be A Good Use Of a Lawsuit

I think what happened to the missionary and her daughter is just obsene injustice. Ya’ll know how I feel about corrupt lawyers and the corrupt system. But here would be a good use of a good moral lawyer of the system to send message about this travesty.

I think the missionary’s family should sue the crud out of the US for informing the Purubian govt that the plane they were in could be carrying drugs knowing that these crazy Purubians have shot down 30 planes since 95’ that were “suspected” of carrying drugs.

I mean just because the US can’t stop the drug war on where it really is in the demand side they try to stop it on the supply side(stupid and wasteful philosophy imho). It is such a loosing battle now the(US) is looking the other way when the most basic right of trial is taken away and just letting the purabians shoot the planes down killing everybody and let God sort’em out.

I mean after all this is a WAR on drugs and innocent people die in war. Right? What a bunch of crapola. This isn’t a war because in war somebody eventually wins. This war will never be over. What the lady was doing of spreading the word of Christ love for the world would do more for the war on drugs than shooting down planes anyday.

But the DEA has to show some strength otherwise they will lose their tax funding so lets just start killing everybody that is “suspected” of carrying drugs and see if that helps  .

Anyway Sua or Jody ya’ll should look up this lady’s family and help them sue the US like there is no tomorrow and send a message to the govt that the so called stupid war on drugs doesn’t mean that they have the right to take away the most basic precious right of anybody…to live(much less innocent until proven guilty thing).

I just don’t know anymore.

what sort of eerie parallel universe is this? Wildest Bill advocating the use of a personal lawsuit to address a grievence, and one against the US government?

I need to recheck my ticket- I’ve obviously gotten off on the wrong planet.

On the OP: at this point, not all of the facts are in. From what little I heard, the US planes were advising against hostile action by the Peruvian folk.

Purubians? Ah, WB is back on form, I see. And WB is urging the dead woman’s family to SUE? The age of miracles is not yet over, I reckon.

What’s truly scary is that WB is actually RIGHT that the War on Drugs is a miserable failure, and that the most efficient method to stop the production and distribution of cocaine is to reduce, if not eliminate, the demand.

The Peruvian military plane shot down the civilian plane despite the CIA urging the Peruvians to check the plane’s registration number, albeit in this morning’s Washington Post it was reported that, according to the monitored tapes of conversations between the US agents and the Peruvians, the US agents did not object strenuously enough to prevent the tragedy.
[slight hijack]
Although I don’t see why Bill objects to the missionary and her infant being killed. After all, they went home to Jesus, something I thought Christians wanted.
[/hijack]

Maybe the Peruvians were high on “mexican fat burners”…

And WB’s also advising attorneys to disregard the rules of professional conduct! Oh my, I just don’t know anymore myself.

Oh yea I forgot about that. Whoops. Thanks for reminding me of that minty.

And wring they(US) would say that to cover their rears but if they know what kind of whacos these purubians(btw did I spell this wrong or something) are. why would they radio them in the first place saying they(the plane) might be carrying drugs.

Goboy actually said I was right on something(wb getting back up off the floor) WOW!

Also yes it is great she is in Heaven but maybe if her life wasn’t snuffed out so early she could have had brought a few more with her when she went at the end of her life.

Vanilla… You are too funny. LOL

so are you…

Now now I meant that in a complimentry way.

Yes, Bill you are spelling “Peruvian” wrong.

I would still suggest to you that before you make plans to spend the $$ on the lawsuit, you wait for more information. I’m astounded that you believe our government can lie to us. (not that I believe that the government wouldn’t, but that you believe that it might). anyhow.

Bill, had you never heard of Peru before this story? Did you remember a nation of “purubians” from a junior high school geography class? Your spelling and grammar skills continue to amaze and confound.

I know that has nothing to do with your OP, but frankly I can’t get past it to take any of your ideas seriously.

PS- I suppose it is something that you at least found a lawsuit you could love…

What’s interesting is when you check the State Department travel advisory for Peru, including the latest update. Neither of them mention any such travel risk.

If the US government is shooting at people in a country, or (as in this instance) is playing an active role in aiding another country in its efforts to shoot people out of the skies, shouldn’t US citizens be warned of that, before tootling off to that corner of the globe?

If you don’t mind me asking, WB, what South American country did you think the “Purubians” came from?

-Ben

Suing the government really means suing ourselves. The suit Bill recommends would result in less money for good work done by the government, such as protecting the environment, educating the poor, health research, etc.

This situation is fairly hypothetical as regards the federal government, because it’s hard to sue them. However, cities, such as NY, spend a lot of money on lawsuits.

Wildest Bill advocating the use of a lawsuit is indeed unusual for him, true. But his advocating that the grievance be against the U.S. government is not.

WB fits the profile for someone who would be exceedingly wary of the Federal government. They’re the same agency that levelled all those unholy income taxes at us, kicked God out of our schools, forced us to take the Mark of the Beast (social security numbers), and persecuted that poor innocent Weaver family and those harmless Branch Davidians, after all.

Perubians come from Perubia.

Even I know that, and I hate geography.

[hijack]Okay, while I admit that it does throw you off and make you less likely to take him seriously, the cracks about Bill using the word, “Perubian” are a little off. First of all, people questioning what country he thought the “Perubians” were from does nothing to point out the flaw in Bill’s spelling–the country is Peru–no “v” or “b” to be confused. Likely, Bill had heard newscasters using the term “Peruvians” and has misunderstood. I’ll wager a guess that he knew the “Peru” part. Now, correct him or imply that he’s a dumbass but tell him what the problem is–like wring so graciously did–we’re fighting ignorance not mocking it.[/hijack]

On the contrary, the word he used was “Purubians,” suggesting that maybe he didn’t know the “Peru” part. My question was motivated by genuine curiosity.

But since you brought it up, I find it noteworthy that after all those times “Peru” would have been mentioned in school while WB was a young lad, and after all those times “Peru” was discussed in the papers in regard to this recent incident as well as in regard to Fujimori’s recent political crisis, and the fact that the word “Peru” probably appeared on TV during news reports, and given that Peru enjoys some notoriety because of the Nazca lines, the lost cities of the Incas, and the Emperor’s New Groove, not to mention being the country that gave us cocaine, and after seeing folks here spell it “Peruvian,” WB wasn’t quite sure if he misspelled it or not, and didn’t bother to look it up in order to prevent himself from looking like a dork.

I mean, come on! PERU! It’s not like he screwed up on one of those diddly countries like Ecuador that nobody gives a damn about!

-Ben

Ben, first of all, you have missed my point–he didn’t screw up the name of the country–he screwed up how to turn the name of the country into an adjective describing the citizens of that country. And he did it by one letter. It’s not as if the country is called “Peruv” and Bill just made up his own spelling–ignoring the way the name is actually spelled. He has been ridiculed and taunted (somewhat justifiably) because of it–yes, he was wrong for not looking it up after noticing that people had corrected it but let it go. It’s similar to someone not knowing whether individuals from Argentina are referred to as Argentinians or Argentines–not really important to the OP so long as the poster and subsequent readers of the thread know he is referrring to individuals from Argentina.

**

Did you miss the part where I corrected you on this?

Say what you will, but I was genuinely curious as to whether his use of “Purubians” was connected in his mind to “Puru,” or whether he had simply misheard the term “Peruvian” and got all het up while having no idea what country it was supposed to be. Given that WB had never heard of Thor, I consider it to be a genuine possibility that he might not know about Peru.

-Ben

You know, Ben, you’re probably right. He very well could not have known! I just got a little irritable at people picking apart something that didn’t really have anything to do with the OP. Of course, me hijacking to say something didn’t exactly help that, did it? Sorry!
