Here's a shocker..Mike Tyson acting like an ass again.

Run!

Women and children first! Save yourselves…!

I’m disenchanted with a society that allows a violent criminal, guilty of multiple counts of rape, battery, etc. to not only walk free, but to thrive. He’s a one man crime spree.

The fucks who gave him his licence to fight again should be discredited from the sport of boxing. there is a special place on satan’s Scaly pecker for these dumb bastards. all they see is the fucking dollar that this wife-beating rapist can bring.

Fuck Tyson. I hope lewis hands him his ass on a plate fairly and squarely, and that will be the end of Tyson.

But no. There is no way that that fight will go down without incident. I fucking Guarentee it.

The man needs to be in a high security mental hospital. He is a madman and a criminal. He has no place in any sport.

There are lots of things wrong with my state. Grossly underfunded education, a socialized medicine program that everyone hates…

But allowing Mike Tyson to make money within our borders sticks in my craw in a special way. It’s certainly not the worst thing we’ve done, but it may be the most shameful. The fact that Memphis actively campaigned to get that monster to come here–bowed and scraped for the right to host pure evil… shudder

I’ll just have to console myself with the knowledge that Memphis is actually the capital of Mississippi and not really a part of Tennessee.

Tyson came to Scotland two years ago.

He flattened his opponant in 38 seconds, and then took a swing at the referee when he tried to halt the fight. All the saps who’d paid to see this brawl (it wasn’t boxing, boxing has rules you’re suppose to follow) started booing. The rest of the world had a good laugh at the sight of idiots parted from their money.

The only thing we can say for certain is that, win or lose, Tyson will leave Memphis richer and there’ll be another round of mugs with lighter wallets.

Hey now!
Just know we didn’t ALL want him here. I love boxing, but this is one fight I’ll be happy to see over and done with.

Don’t feel bad, Ben. Tennessee’s in good company.

Anything for a buck in Amsterdam…

I am in complete agreement with TwistofFate on this. Boxing and Rugby are two pleasures of mine and both are considered to be violent. They are. However the majority of what happens on the pitch and on the canvas is controlled in that it has a purpose. Mike Tyson has no concept of the words “control” or “purpose”. He is an accident waiting to happen. I can think of nothing that has happened in his life to justify his behavior or actions. Though, I think that if D’Amato were still alive we would be seeing a different Tyson.
That being said, I ferverently hope that Lewis RIPS HIS FUCKING HEAD OFF!!!
Then maybe Boxing can regain some of it’s diginty.

D-I-G-N-I-T-Y

Jeez, what a word to screw up…

I echo the sentiments here. I hope Lewis crushes him. Unfortunately, I feel that if he starts winning, and Tyson feels like he’s going to lose, he’ll pull another idoitic move like he did when he started losing the Holyfield fight. If he wins, I don’ t think he’ll do anything bad…but if he’s losing, he’ll get dirty…he’ll try to hurt Lewis regardless of the rules, and if he can’t win legally, he’ll sure as hell try to do it illegally. That’s my fear. Either way, I hope Lewis pounds his ass flat. If Tyson acts up after that, maybe they’ll lock him up and never allow him to box again anywhere.

Jman

Apparently, it was some guy is Dyersburg who got the money together to put the fight on in Memphis. And my understanding is that the Tennessee Board of Boxing and Racing consists of two people-- a Mr. Tommy Patrick and his secretary. Mr. Patrick, who will oversee the fight on behalf of the Volunteer State, has few formal duties except that he has to attend each and every Toughman competition. I’m so glad that we can’t fund the schools and yet Mr. Patrick is out there protecting the public interest. That sound you hear is me whistling “Rock Top” out of my asshole.

Is anybody going to be surprised when Tyson acts like the sociopath he is an this whole thing turns into a fiasco? I love Memphis–it’s the Holy City of Rock and Roll, the musical capital of the Western Hemisphere, and home to lots of really great people. But who really thinks that the fight is going to be good for the city? Sure, some people will make some money (hell, my SO works in a nice restaurant downtown. She’s gonna make lots o’ money!), but ultimately it’s just going to reinforce Memphis’ image as a place where sleezy, tragic, and unfortunate things happen.

On the other hand, I could live in Knoxville and suffer the tender mercies of 100,000+ drunk, ignorant, violent rednecks pillaging the downtown area every time there’s a Vols game. So I guess I should count my blessings.

Gah. I am so glad I’m not a native Memphian. From what I can see, most of the people who support the ‘fight’ have their eyes on the bottom line. Cold hard cash. Moola. Lucre. $$$$! I could be renting out rooms in my house and make enough to pay for a nice vacation to a tropical island!

I think I’m going to do my best to be out of town when the fight rolls around… that many people in a small(ish) area is going to spill over somewhere. I just hope it’s peaceful.

<< Ack. Ack ack! >>

Vibrotronica–
I was with you all the way. Right up until your post got stupid.

I don’t know whether this was supposed to be a burn on me or what, but you don’t know what you’re talking about.

In the six years I’ve lived in Knoxville, and the eighteen years I’ve been going to UT football games, I’ve seen nothing even closely resembling “pillaging,” and I can count the number of fistfights I’ve seen on one hand. Pretty amazing, really, considering that there are, in fact, 107,000 people in an area about the size of a Super Wal Mart. The worst thing that’s liable to happen to you at a UT game is getting stuck in traffic.

I also hope you know that it’s a Fucking Stupid Idea to make broad generalizations about “ignorant rednecks.” It would be tiresome to remind you about the Diversity of Man and the Milk of Human Kindness and how it’s Wrong to Judge, so I won’t. I’ll just invite you to a game so you can see what fun it is, and how nice most of the people really are.

On the other hand, you got the “drunk” part exactly right.

Uhhhh, and Mike Tyson’s a jerk!

Well, I guess all Knoxvillains aren’t stupid after all.

Vibrotronica-

I was going to let that go little snipe go, so as not to further hijack the thread. But fuck that. The thread seems to have died, so a moment of your time, please.

First, I don’t know why you’ve decided to take your childish, angry little pot shots at me, but knock it the hell off, worm.

Second, let me see if I can make you understand why the last thing you said was offensive:

Did my revision of your post sound jerkish to you? No more jerkish than the original sounded to me. It’s all there: Offensive, derogatory references to entire classes of people, ignorant assertions about things that don’t happen, and general condescension toward thousands of people you don’t know.

So be a mensch and do one of two things: Either quit posting stupid baseless burns on me and my town, or come up with some reason why you’re justified in doing it. Either way, quit being such a dork.

yee-haw! come on, Vibro! whatcha’ got to say to THAT?

(im not taking sides-- i like all of tennesee, i’ve been there and found it quite nice! i just like a good fight!)

oh, yeah! FUCK Tyson!

You really don’t get it do you, Tennessee Ben? You are the one that started it and then you can’t take it when someone pays you back.

Does that ring any bells?

I was fixin’ to tell you what I thought about the statement, when I noticed that vibrotronica had put the burn on you.
I’m from Mississippi, but spend a lot of time in Memphis, so it isn’t so much what you said, but the obviously nasty intent you put into it.

Hey dicksnot, if you’re going to quote me, do it right:

Do you see the smiley? See him? Now, over here in East Tennessee, the smiley means “I’m kidding around with you, so don’t get your panties in a wad.” Maybe it means something else in the Delta.

(BTW, I love Memphis, and what I’ve seen of North Mississippi has been great. Try not to get worked up over nothing. Twit.)

You, uh, you might want to learn something about that whole affair. Especially what Alan Dershowitz had to say about it.

-no physical evidence of rape
-several witnesses saw them engaging in foreplay before reaching the hotel (supressed from the trial by judge)
-prosecution allowed to choose the judge (who had previously been an attorney specializing in rape convictions)
-Desiree Washington admitted she was given the chance to leave his bed, chooses to go to the bathroom instead of leaving entirely
-she was overheard making comments that Tyson was rich and dumb and that she wanted a piece of that

Poor girl. Her courage is a guiding beacon to us all.
