Heritage? Nah, just hate.

MY WORDS ARE BIGGER THAN YOURS
Yeah!

^ OK, that made me laugh

My guess is either senile dementia or a really bad episode of frontal lobe flatulence. Let’s hope it doesn’t drip too much.

I do not think a “poison tree” actually has any toxicity associated with it. Rather, it is the topic of a poem, and is a metaphor. Or a simile. Or maybe an onomatopoeia. My degree is in biochem, not English.

But the tree ends up killing the foe at the end of the poem, no? Even still, I don’t think the rules get suspended for metaphors, though. Else we’d all find easy ways around them.

Makes sense. I just wanted to share information. I thought there really was a poison tree!

Zeke, don’t let people agitate you. Not everyone argues in good faith. Not everyone can read really, really good! You aren’t going to change that. But they aren’t your real audience anyways.

By coming across as an unhinged loon like SteveG1 or Der Trihs you aren’t doing yourself or your point of view any favors.

No, but there is a money tree! I saw it on TV once.

There is. Or there are. One is the tropical ‘poisonwood tree’ or ‘Florida poisontree’ Metopium toxiferum in the Anacardiaceae. Another is the ‘manchineel’ Hippomane mancinella in the Euphorbiaceae. Standing under either of these in the rain will seriously F one up.

What if one were to leave a cake under one of those trees while it was raining?

It would be fit to serve to all your – err, ahh… not-so-good friends.

Once.

“I don’t think that I could take it, 'cause it took so long to bake it…”

Huh. None are mentioned in the “poison tree” disamiguation on Wikipedia.:frowning:

I’m aware of Euphorbia as succulents (crown of thorns, spurge, etc).

Cool!!

Sounds like “poison trees” (wink, wink) are right up your alley!

I wonder if they didn’t care about repercussions or if they didn’t even realize there might be some. is that possible? :dubious:

I’m guessing all too many of these people are so used to being able to troll message boards without consequence and are emboldened by the Trump-Bannon side that the idea that there are consequences just never occurs to them.

Then there’s the moron on FB this morning who was complaining about how FREE SPEECH was being squashed and there should never be consequences to speaking your mind or there is no such thing as Free Speech.

The thought they were following in the path of Dear Leader.

Despite the many similarities between the man with the moustache and the man with the orange toupee, there are also important differences. The one was a powerful charismatic man, firmly in control, and with a strong vision, albeit evil. The other is an insipid little man, trying to play the role of daytime-TV buffoon and failing at it miserably.

“(other than slavery)” WTF?

I think the better argument for giving Lee a pass on treason is that he felt his loyalty was to his state and not the USA. But there is a significant difference between fighting to preserve slavery and fighting for the principles outlined in the declaration of independence. Where was the tyranny that Lee was fighting against?

Sure Lee personally was brave and shrewd and had many admirable qualities but as a symbol he perpetuates “lost cause” ideology. A fictional retelling of the past that paints the South like they’re the fucking rebel alliance or Michael Fillion in Firefly.

or even better, don’t come back at all, Zekey boy.
