Heroes 10/30 - "Better Halves" (spoilers)

How about they way they rescue the cheerleader is that Hiro looks at the painting and teleports them there?

Yeah, because putting in your post openly what’s going to happen in an episode three weeks from now isn’t at all a spoiler. Thanks.

We haven’t seen any evidence that Hiro can teleport anyone other than himself, have we? (Great idea, though.)

Part of me is wondering if Mohinder’s voiceover every week is a giant red herring. We’ve already learned that Claire had “a chromosomal problem” as a kid, and Mirror Niki has the vanishing glyph tattoo. Is it possible that these people are the subjects of genetic engineering? Or that, like Wild Cards, some mutagen was released into the atmosphere and only a select few are affected?

:frowning: Please don’t mention Wild Cards. I think this show makes it even less likely for there to be a *Wild Cards * adaption on TV. I like Heroes but it’s no Wild Cards.

Yeah, in the first scene where Cheerbleader greets EvidDad as he comes home from a “business trip.” The viewer feels, from the scene, that Dad is away a lot, and mom is concentrating on her dog, which gives a sort of laissez-faire attitude towards parenting. 2nd ep, I believe.

Niki is dead:

The Narrorator at end of the ep restated the entire “Evolution is a brutal process” dialouge. We ended the ep on talking about extinction of a species.

I don’t think that we would have Niki with a fight, and this discourse, if she is still alive.

Further, Niki became expendable the moment we found out that her husband is a ‘‘Hero’’ also. Niki has no further value to the show. ((Everything about here character has rapped up // moved to her husband))
Im gonna get on board as well, that “Evil Dad” is not the biggest threat, or is not “all that evil” relatively speaking.

See again my previous posts. It’s Ali Larter. She’s being pushed as one of the stars of the show. Her picture is plastered all over the NBC website. She is smoking hot. No way she is dead.

Go to NBC.com and look at the end of the episode. They made certain to show that DL choked her. He knocked her out, he didn’t kill her. It’s pretty clear if you watch it again. Nothing has been wrapped. Now we have her going after DL and their child. Just because DL is a “Hero” doesn’t mean Niki is. Seems to me she is a villian.

I guess none of the other powered characters have value either, by that logic.

And Loach, she may be both hero and villain.

True. Good Niki may have powers we haven’t seen yet.

I remember one scene from the previews that show Niki telling DL “But I can’t control it.”
So obviously she’s still around and there is at least the possibility that she may be able to control ikiN and use her powers.

How about if DL and Micah break down driving out of Vegas and Hiro & Ando pick them up. That would at least get those factions together. And perhaps there will be a newspaper story about some tragedy with the cheerleader miraculously escaping injury and that alerts those looking for her.

The preview seemed to indicate something similar to this, IIRC.

I kept thinking Ando should just say “those guys were a bunch of shady guys that might’ve killed us. If you’d have died trying to save them, you might not have a chance to save the whole world. You can’t save everyone”

In Fight Club, the studio forced them to do product placement - so they would feature the products prominently during scenes of violence deliberately.

It’s weirding me out slightly that from some angles, Ali Larter looks almost exactly like Julie Bowen (of Ed, and other stuff). And at other angles, there’s barely any resemblance at all. But very similar facial structure, cheek bones, occular cavities… but Larter is more… angular… harsh. Less pleasant.

But even weirder, while Larter usually talks in a different tone of voice, when she does use some tones they sound almost exactly alike. Not only in voice, but they have a very similar… not exactly accent, but the way they inflect certain words. It’s uncanny sometimes. Weirds me out.

Oddly, while Julie Bowen is one of my major TV crushes, I don’t find Larter especially attractive. I mean, obviously she’s attractive, but in that nothing-special-every-woman-on-tv-is-attractive sort of way.

I’m late on this train, but I just watched it last night.

The only thing that really jumped at me was the thought that Prognostipainter’s brain should be gone sometime in the next two episodes if we’re sticking to real time. (This was brought up in an older thread regarding the episode from 10/2.) I don’t know that I like that idea now that it’s so close, but they haven’t been mentioning dates in the show, so they could still do it.

No, they’re running this like Lost–it’s only a day or two per episode.

I have a feeling that the season finale will be on the day of the nuke. Probably the first show of next season too since I’m sure it will be a cliffhanger.

But isn’t Hiro deliberately trying to change the future? Apparently there’s less risk of a rift changing the future than changing the past.

I didn’t care for E-Sock that much at the start of the show but he’s becoming more palatable. Or should I say palettable?

I think you misspelled “doable”.

You don’t think it could have something to do with the painting they said was missing? When they said the stuff he painted fit together like a comic book, but they were missing the first first panel in Claire’s sequence because the ex-girlfriend had taken it to sell? They kind of made a point to talk about that.

You’re right. I forgot all about that, but I’ll bet the painting, when we see it, will have a sign in it saying, “Odessa High–Odessa, TX”. Or at least show the cheerleader uniform well enough for them to figure the rest out.
