Yeah, I noticed that, but chalked it up to my pet theory that Hiro’s changing of the time stream is a ripples-in-the-pond kind of thing. It takes a while for changes to take effect, particularly if they’re far enough back in time. Making too big a change might be what causes a rift.
Why not just use the real names? This is the SDMB- dedicated to eradicating ignorance, not spreading it. Let’s try that for a while. I am not asking for much.
Because people have made it clear that they won’t, despite multiple arguments in every thread since the beginning. Would you try to turn back such an irrelevant tide, Canute?
Sure. Why not? Once they know what they are doing is seemthing that many fellow members don’t like, they’ll stop, right? I mean, you’re not saying they would deliberately be a jerk for something so trivial? How about this- “Fellow Dopers, fellow members- I ask you, politely, to *please * stop using confusing nicknames and such. PLEASE. Thanks. I appreciate it.”
jsgoddess: it’s not “choosing to do things a different way” it’s choosing to do things in a way that many members can’t understand- and there’s no easy way of just figuering it out. If we can’t understand it, it’s spreading ignorance.
I’d just like to point out that I think I’ve used exactly one nickname in this thread, and did so right after using the character’s real name. I initially used nicknames because I didn’t know the characters’ real names yet and because I found them amusing. The prediction was made several threads ago that as we all became more familiar with the real names the use of nicknames would drop off, and that’s definitely seemed to be the case.
And yeah, to reiterate, DrDeth and whoever else wants to get snippy over nicknames, get over it.
Also, some people here are typing-challenged, and typing “Mr. Bennett” is a lot more effort than “AED”, particularly since we didn’t learn his name until several episodes in.
Do we know for sure Jackie is dead? We saw Sylar beginning his brain slice thing, but she seemed to still be alive because she said something while he was doing it. Then Sylar saw Claire and dropped Jackie before he was finished. At least it looked that way to me.
I keep wondering that too. AED seems so confident around super beings and his two main henchmen - one can wipe your brain and the other can control you with voice. He never wakes up in the middle of the night wondering; “did I voluntarily give those two a pay raise last year?”
I don’t know why we have to go through this every week. We’ve been using AED for awhile now which leads me to believe this is the first time you’ve ever read a Heroes thread and not only that, but the first 30 times it was used in context in this thread still left you confused?
“Lurk (or at least read) before posting” is what keeps the cool newbs from revealing themselves to be simply noobs.
Which indicates that others were confused as well. Look, I made a reasonable request, and asked politely. If you choose not to honor that request, fine.
Her warning to Claire seemed like pretty standard last gasp fare to me (especially since it sorta redeemed her character, who was never really central anyway). I’d say that, coupled with the whole head slicing thing, makes her a goner.
Could he have a power that prevents others from using their power on him?
Wait. Has anyone used a power on-screen while he was in close proximity? Could he have a power that dampens the power of others? Like, er, that kid in the last X-Men movie?
Nathan flew when he was close by. Matt read his thoughts, which [del]EAD[/del] Mr Bennet found surprising but apparently because of the presence of the Haitian.
I really liked this episode. The actual battle to ‘save the cheerleader’ we’ve been building to for several weeks now was a bit anti-climactic however. Peter and Sylar grab each other and fall to their ‘deaths’ in all of about five seconds? Maybe Peter took on Sylar’s power there which Sylar wasn’t prepared for? It’s not clear.
Sweet little Pixie Stix sure had some cojones as she matter-of-factly took down the powerful mass-murderer Sylar. And her ears look fine to me.

For several of them the full name or location couldn’t be seen. I indicated the people we know, so there are a bunch we haven’t met yet. And of course the list may very well be quite a bit longer, we just didn’t see all of it. Except for Hiro, they’re all from the US as well, so there could be many more from the rest of the world.
