Heroes 12/03/07 - "Powerless" (SPOILERS)

Adam-In-The-Box creeped me out because that’s one of my phobias but it got ruined like five seconds later when I realized that was Papa Nakamura’s plot there–in Japan, right? He wouldn’t get buried in America, right? Well, problem is that I’ve walked through probably five hundred small Japanese burial plots and they don’t bury bodies–only ashes! Japanese cemeteries can have dozens of markers in tiny square footage because they don’t need six feet x three feet at the foot of each one… So there wouldn’t BE a coffin down there in the FIRST place and there most certainly wouldn’t be a big old rectangle of bare dirt… Shook me right out of the moment.

So, did we see who did for Nathan? My guess is that Noah’s working off his debt…

Was I hallucinating, or did the glyph appear in Peter’s hand when the virus dirt blew away? Too bad he didn’t pick up the metal melting talent because that would have been totally useless on a gigantic vault door.

Speaking of the vault, wasn’t that flambarge dagger the St Joan character was holding on the cover of the burning comic book also in one of the display cases? Sure looked like the same one.

I am pissed Maya’s back and I hope Mohinder gets a heapin’ helpin’ of the Bleedin’ Eyes of Jesus to repay him adequately for his actions in saving that vapid twerp.

Not Nathan! Noooooo!!!

Bah, now that they can resuscitate anybody I’m not THAT worried.

I know, I know, it’s just a comic book, don’t worry about the logic. But I can’t help it. How in Og’s name did Hiro get Adam into that coffin? I got it! He zapped them both to Japan, froze time, whacked Adam on the head, zapped to a mortuary, zapped back with an empty coffin and a shovel (time of course was still frozen), buried Adam, unfroze time and zapped back to his office (stopping at home of course to take a shower and change his shirt).

Sure, that works.

I was thinking “Lost Room” too lol although in my case it was precipitated by thinking wouldn’t it be great if Peter had the Clock so he could sublimate magnesium? Although I kept wondering why 1) he didn’t just walk though the door and 2) if he didn’t know if he could trust Adam why he didn’t just go in without him and destroy the virus on his own once he was there. The cards actually reminded me of Gambit. Was Hiro’s dead father in the coffin with Adam? I’m glad they brought back Maya as otherwise all of the time spent developing her and her brother’s back story would have amounted to nothing since until that point they haven’t contributed anything to the plot other than being road buddied for Sylar. The next volume is titled “Villians”. Hmmm… who else besides Sylar who will in play?

Wouldn’t the company make such an important vault out of non-phaseable material?

Wow, I never would’ve expected that kind of punishment from Hiro. But then again, it wasn’t just saving the world, this time it was personal. Still, I can’t think he’s gone completely cold, since he’s still Nathan’s biggest fan. I love how after all the heroes Hiro has met, Nathan is still his favorite. I just can’t get enough of his enthusiasm for “flying man!!!”

I wish Peter (and the writers) would remember that he has Syler’s “how it works” power so we could see what can be done with it besides eat brains.

The highlight of the episode was definitely Mr Muggles.

Oh yeah, am I the only one who’s annoyed that we still know nothing about West? Every hero we’ve met, we’ve learned something about their family, but we haven’t heard the slightest thing about who West’s parents are. For all we know he could live in a tree somewhere being raised by apes.

I don’t get the hate for Maya. The first half of her story arc was boring but once Syler came into the picture things got interesting. Sure she isn’t the brightest bulb in the box but everyone in the show’s got a bad case of the stupids. She’s got one of the more interesting powers and I’d like to see where they go with it next season.

So who shot Nathan Petrelli? My guess:

Maggie Simpson

Doesn’t he also have Sylar’s original “figure out how things work” ability? Just unlock the damn safe. Also a cool effect, and less blood pouring through your nose that way, too.

Also, if Micah can talk to the traffic light, he can talk to the electronics in the car, too.

I love Nathan. He had better not be dead. I did think it was a nice parallel that he and Claire both had the same idea. Flawed as it was. Pity she didn’t give the press conference and get shot - “as I was saying, I have the ability to heal myself - so, don’t do that again, it stings.”

Considering in this season we saw multiple people returned from the dead after being shot, I think it safe to say Nathan probably will be saved.

I’d like to add that the title for Volume 3, “Villains”, totally refers to this duo:

Well, there’s no real reason Hiro couldn’t do all that. My objection is that it was a pretty stupid thing to do. Eventually Adam will claw his way out of there. At best, he’ll simply have a burning desire for revenge. At worst, he’ll be an immortal raving lunatic. Hiro should have just cut off his head and be done with it.

Uh, same way he got to new york on the very first episode, teleporting. Hiro can bend Time and Space, i don’t see how this is an issue.

If Peter’s blood doesn’t work then he could always get a dose of Claire’s. It would depend on Claire hearing about the shooting since it wouldn’t occur to Peter.

Looked like a 6 x 6 to me, but that post should’ve been easily moved since it really was just leaning against the door. There is a bigger lesson here though. Micah’s relatives just shouldn’t deal with fire. That or Micah is cursed. Either or.

I have to say that I’m glad that Maya lived. Now hear me out before you pick up the flaming pitchforks, but if Maya had died her and Alejandro simply existed to prove once again that Sylar is a badass (cause his incessant brain eating just wasn’t convincing) and to provide transportation for Sylar from his cell to Mohinder’s door (should’ve just named them Nissan and Rogue).

Speaking of characters that went nowhere and did nothing, whatever happened to that woman that Peter was obsessed with. Fell into a plot hole?

I’m sorry to see Nathan go out with a bang (or three). I was actually hoping that the virus had gotten out.

Nathan: I have the ability to fly (tries to fly. Nothing happens) To fly…(still nothing) Hold on. I think it went like this (Tries again, making a constipated Peter face. Winds up trying to crowd surf on the gathered reporters while Peter and Parkman exchange darkly knowing looks).

She’s a year in teh future, so he may catch up with her then. But then again, it’s a future that is now not going to happen, so…

…where’s Doc Brown with his blackboard?

Yeah several things were not too bright there. Why didn’t they just freeze time to go to the vault? Why beat up all the guards along the way? And why didn’t he walk through the wall of the vault, etc.

We know that Sylar has his powers back, we saw him inject the blood and then heal, and then move that can in the alley with his powers.

It was still in the scabbard, I’m pretty sure.

Freeze time, move a coffin next to Adam. Push Adam over, close coffin, bury it, resume time.

Oh, on further reading I see that Pel2na beat me to it.

I think he should have filled the coffin with concrete. I mean if he wasn’t going to just kill him. Adam doesn’t have super strength to claw his way out of concrete when he doesn’t even have a millimeter of wiggle room, right?

When will Adam learn you don’t let your enemy live - you have a sword to the throat - you don’t monologue - you cut.

And damn, Hiro’s ability with his powers is so much more refined now.

So, the following morning the cemetary maintenance crew shows up. Hmmm. Big plot of disturbed ground. Unauthorized disturbed ground. Step one, dig up plot to see what’s going on. Step two, find coffin. Step three, hear Adam yelling for help. Step four, open coffin.

I mean, cemetaries get PAID for housing coffins/bodies. You think they are just going to shrug at some DIYer taking up a big chunk of land without having paid for it?

I’m thinking Hiro multi-pourposed his Father’s plot. (in which case, the ground being disturbed is to be expected)

That was my thought, too. It kind of looked like his walk, I thought, and would fit in with his going back to the Company to save Claire and keep her from going public.
