If it’s on the X chromosome (can’t be on the Y - women are demonstrating mutant powers) and dominant or recessive, it might be passed on or not, and might be manifesting or not. I think it must be dominant for it to be manifesting in so many of the kids. If it’s on the X and dominant, almost all the kids of any combination of mutants and non-mutants will manifest mutant powers (no less than half of the kids of only one mutey parent, and more with two mutey parents or a double-X affected mother). Cool, man. Mutants taking over the world.
Yes, Mama suggested they not reveal the death yet. Since the election is only a week away they could probably pull it off.
Actually he manifested Sylar’s telekinesis, without being consciously aware of it. Only afterwards did he remember.
Rooftop stickfighting scene with Invisible Man (Claude). IM strikes at Peter but it stops above his head
(and paraphrased)
C: Telekinesis! Which one of your buddies had that power?
PP: I don’t know. oh wait, the guy in Texas!
Recessive genes are still genes; it’s still heredity.
I know she suggested concealing the death. What I don’t remember is if she used the election as the rationale for concealing the death. Of course even if she did she could be prevaricating…
But he was aware of the existence of the telekinesis before he manifested it. He witnessed/was exposed to the power being used. He hasn’t been actively exposed to, for instance, freezing or melting so under this theory he shouldn’t have those. He may have super-hearing and super-memory, though, since those are passive powers and he absorbed Claire’s healing when it was unclear that she was actively manifesting it. And he should have the “super-figuring-out-how-things-work” power too.
Another great time travel story, The Time Traveler’s Wife, has the main character spending quite a bit of time with himself.
Flightless, he may have remembered TK, but not who. It would seem consistent that he has to know he has a power to access it. Peter definitely can pick up Sylar’s stolen abilities. He obviously picked up TK from Sylar, but he doesn’t seem affected by the super-hearing, which he doesn’t know Sylar has. Of course, Sylar doesn’t seem affected by it anymore, or Isaac’s screams would have stopped him.
Maybe she wanted to hide it because, since it was an obviously violent death, the police would be involved and an autopsy ordered?
There is only one solution for this. Chris Eccleston needs to come back and train him/beat his ass some more.
I’m going to need to watch it again, but there were two people in the room when Future/Soul Patch Hiro said "you!’. We haven’t seen Future/Soul Patch Hiro traveling with Ando at all. As strange as it sounds I wonder if Ando could have been the one he meant instead of our Hiro?
I noticed that too. Weird camera angle I guess, ‘cause poor ol’ Ando could never have done something to make future Hiro angry to see him.
Or could he?
And perhaps the classic “meeting oneself” tale, Heinlein’s All You Zombies.
I think scarred Peter and also Bad Ass Hiro are both from the “new york blows up” timeline and if they do manage to stop that from happening then neither of them will actually exist. Peter can’t get a scar anymore as a direct result from Bad Ass Hiro telling him to save Claire, and i would imagine Hiro had to turn into a bad ass to deal with the shitty state of the world in that timeline. Im sure the fans would hate it if cute Hiro ended up turning into bad ass Hiro in the real timeline anyways so thats not likely to happen.
I think the reason many writers come up with dire consequences for meeting your past self is because of the potential for paradoxes. What if you accidentally did something that changes (prevents) the future that you are in?
I don’t think that is a problem here. Soul Patch Hiro is in a future that should not and will not happen. The whole idea is for something to happen (some info being passed, probably) so that Soul Patch’s time-line won’t exist. Baby-face Hiro will go back to his time and do what SPH did not.
On Preview: What DigitalC said.
I am one that hopes cute/cuddly/kissable Hiro does become bad-ass Hiro. Hiro needs to grow and master his abilities. I think as he does he will become more confident in himself and slowly turn into bad-ass Hiro.
If Peter didn’t get the message from the future to save the Cheerleader, he wouldn’t have had his regen.
Thus, the past has already been changed.
Or even better, since I think it’s superior -* By your bootstraps*.
**Otto ** - just a friendly piece of advice. You’re being quite abrasive.
For those who haven’t read the wired aritcle, I found it interesting that TK clearly states that Heroes is not meant for comic book geeks, but that his writing team (all comic book geeks) throws in references as a hint-hint nudge-nudge to geeks, but the viewers who are not geeks won’t need to know any comic book conventions to gety the main storyline.
Also, it was clearly stated that “thinking outside the [idiot] box” is part of the franchise. Ratings for all of tv is down, and the networks need to find Non Traditional Revenue, NTR. The web is one major source. So even if we will ‘get’ whatt’s going on by just watching the episodes, NBC really wants us to check out the websites “to get the full experience”. Sorry, it’s just the way networks are trying to figure out how to make money. I don’t think it will last.
Speaking of which - there was no Nissan Versa.
Oh, and squeeee
Woah woah woah… not to hijack the thread, but don’t use Down Syndrome as your example here.
Down Syndrome is a trisomy (Trisomy 21, to be exact) meaning you have 3 of chromosome 21 (instead of the usual 2). You can be a mosaic, meaning some of your cells have 3 and some have 2, but it isn’t a recessive vs dominant genetic disease like hemophilia or muscular dystrophy.
I meant the mutant chick.
Mama Petrelli did say she wanted to hide the death of Peter until after the election.
Speaking of the mutant chick, I can understand her being to morph, but being able to perfectly mimick not only their physical appearance but also voice and intonation. That and being able to mimick their current outfit (a la Jessica) seems a bit convoluted. I’m guessing she would have to be able to see the person to mimic (hence her being Claire in the cheerleader outfit) but figuring out intonation? inflection?
I wonder if morphing is the correct way to describe what she does. Using the X-Men movies as an analogy, I’d say what she does isn’t the morphing that Mystique does, but more like the illusion casting that Jason Stryker used to control Xavier.
That would also explain that while Micah can usually tell the difference between Jessica and Niki, he couldn’t tell the difference between Jessica and illusion-Jessica.
