Heroes 9/24/07 - 2nd season premiere "Four Months Later..."

Honduran. The dead people looked to have blood running out of the corners of their eyes so my money’s on Jayna having some kind of Scanners-like brain bursting power but without the actual exploding heads. I have a feeling that Zan has some kind of power damping but my evidence for that is on the level of “gut.”

I’m mixed on the Ep tonight as well.

And yes, I did the flip flop from Fox to NBC after 'Break.

We don’t need two “The Company” 's Ugh. This will get more twisted than when that one guy Pulled a ““T-bag”” on 24 last season.

And new this season, that rogue Nisan Versa Awakens to it’s power… the abillity to CROSSOVER to a new vehicle!!!

Was the dude at the end Peter? My wife insisted it didn’t look like him at all.

What do you mean two companies? I assumed that “The Company” that Stephen Tobolowsky works for and that Bennet and Mohinder are going to take down is the same company that Bennet worked for last season. Or are you talking about something else that I completely missed?

Willing suspension of disbelief. Same reason Hiro could understand and be understood by the feudal Japanese.

Parkman and Mohinder hopped over to Vermont after the former’s divorce. Molly was their flower girl. Very cute.

Meh. The show is full of cheesy dialogue and clichés. Just one of its charms.

I was thinking Peter Pan.

Its’ the internet. There’s always someone bitching about something.

Sorry, it WAS a creative choice. Filmmakers often employ color filters on certain shots to set a tone and mood. Happens quite a lot.

Some of us were commenting that we had to change the channel from FOX to NBC tonight. The hour before Heroes, FOX has a show called PrisonBreak. The Antagonists of PrisonBreak form “The Company” in that mythos. Hence, two companies.

Otto and others, I am pretty sure that NBC will have Heroes for Streaming tommorow, or this week. On www.nbc.com
But then again, you get what you pay for, and at least its not Heroes V 24.

Brings up the interesting question of whether or not Nathan can also absorb powers like Peter…was he around Candice much?

Well it put me in the mood of a distracted viewer who thought the color was fucked.

The guy that was handcuffed? Yup that was him.

Blame the actor and/or his agents. The way I hear it on message boards and such, he/they were the ones who insisted on the rewrite.

That’s because it was. It was said at a couple times that Mohinder and Parkman are living together (when Mohinder’s not giving lectures in Egypt and such,) and raising Molly. How two people who had never met until a suspicious incident at a downtown NYC building that left a few people shot, a man dead from a hole in the head, occurred the same time as a nuclear explosion over NYC, and no suspect/perpetrator would suddenly be granted adoption rights, I have no idea. I imagine they just did it under the rug, but she is enrolled in school, so how did they pull that off? Perhaps the same connections Noah used to get his family as new identity?

I loved the Bunsen burners and Darwin question in the Claire’s science class. We always heated chemicals in my high school biology class. Maybe they were going to boil the frogs before they dissected them?

I’m really excited about the dad and Mohinder working together. The Midas-man was a cool touch too.

I thought the guy who did in Sulu was Sylar. Is that possible? He sure carried himself like Sylar.

I think it’s a good call that the Honduran woman has brain 'sploding powers, and her brother’s power is to keep her from doing it. That’s why they can’t be separated.

Should we just call her Scannerchick?

As for the young dude who flies… He could also be a shapeshifter. We know there are some of those around. That would make more sense, because if he was an old guy who didn’t age, would he really be hanging around a high school? He seemed to be an old hand around the place, so I assume it’s not his first year there. But if there’s some shapeshifting involved, the shifter could have killed the real kid and taken his place.

Or maybe he’s just a kid with powers, and he spots the same thing in Claire.

Because they know the Claire storyline is drawing a lot of viewers. And they need something to create dramatic tension in Claire’s life. I, for one, enjoyed the Claire scenes the most in this show.

I’m wondering if New-Straight-Zach is another Petrelli Bastard. He looks like Nathan and he flies. (When superhuman mutants inbreed- hmm… I guess it makes a guy who can’t do math but can burrow to the center of the Earth while healing cold sores or something?)

How did Peter get that lock of hair from his forehead down to his chin?

I’m guessing Honduran chick screams with enough force to shatter eardrums and skulls. It’s obviously something she can control enough not to kill her brother. (I kept expecting Tommy Lee Jones, in a black suit, to intercept the van.)

I’m guessing Peter Petrelli is the guy who offed poor Sulu- something to do with his ability to teleport. Or possibly (Richard Roundtree’s character- name eludes me), though it seemed a much younger/slimmer guy, though I’m not sure Milo could have pulled off an acting job as complex as walking menacingly up to the ledge.

I think the guy that can see Mollie should be Stephen Root (as Milton from Office Space- “I’ll burn down The Company if they try to take me in…”.)

Wow, I’m really surprised people seem to like it. I thought it was a godawful and dispiriting mess, bereft of all but the faintest hope.

But hey, that’s just an opinion.

May you all enjoy your second season and many seasons to come. I will try to cherish my memories of the first season’s relative awesomeness.

I’m supposed to believe that the mega comic nerd Hiro would fall for that old save-someone-in-the-past-but-disrupt-the-timeline cliche? Hasn’t he seen Back to the Future? Now we have to watch him race to set everything back to the normal timeline. What are the bets that he tries to fix Kensei up with the Swordsmith’s daughter, with hilarious results? Then he’ll probably end up becoming KENSEI HIMSELF OH MY GOD. Sigh. Time travel stories suck.

Otherwise, good episode.

It wasn’t great, but it was better than the beginning of last season. I’m willing to let them shake the cliches out of their system again in the hope that once they get the plot moving again it will again become awesome.
